[Review] Demon Slayer Academy!

It's more fun than the main story. I can guarantee that. It perfectly captures the spin-off settings of the characters that appear intermittently in the main Demon Slayer story. Giyu Tomioka is a PE teacher, Kanae Kocho is a biology teacher, Gyomei Himejima is a social studies teacher, Sanemi Shinazugawa is a math teacher, Kyojuro Rengoku is a history teacher, Tengen Uzui is an art teacher, Obanai Iguro is a chemistry teacher, Mitsuri Kanroji is a graduate working part-time at a pizza place. The rest are students. It's rare to find a work that so well utilizes all the characters from the main story and expresses them in such an entertaining way. If the main story is just an average work that benefited from the anime adaptation, this can be called a masterpiece. For reference, many fans of Demon Slayer might ask why I call it average, but a masterpiece is a work that achieves both commercial success and philosophical depth. A great work achieves one of them, and anything else is average. Demon Slayer achieved commercial success, but if you ask if it's something you'd want to rewatch, the answer is no. In conclusion, it's an average work that wouldn't have succeeded without the anime's popularity.

[Review] Attack on Middle School

This is a spin-off of Attack on Titan. The content is completely different from the 'School Caste' arc in the main series. For example, Levi appears as Eren's senior in school. He's not a janitor like in School Caste. Though it would be fun to see him as a janitor... Basically, scenes from Attack on Titan appear frequently. However, they're not serious like in the main series; they're quite comical. Reasons why Eren hates Titans, How Eren gained the ability to use ODM gear, Why the Survey Corps in Attack on Middle School operates as an unofficial organization, etc. These are elements from the main series, but they're presented entirely differently here. And the Titans here don't eat people. But... they do put them in their mouths. Also, the Titans are surprisingly good at studying, skilled in the arts, and incredibly amazing. You lose if you think Titans are cute, but here they're presented as genuinely cute(?). It definitely has a different kind of fun compared to the main series.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint

This is a core review and overall assessment of a representative work that is moving beyond web novels and webtoons to be adapted into a film. It transcends a simple apocalyptic fantasy setting where the world of a novel you were reading becomes reality, expanding into a three-dimensional relationship and narrative between the reader, author, and characters, providing unparalleled immersion. The contrast between the protagonist Yoo Joonghyuk of 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' and the reader 'Kim Dokja', who observes and leads his growth, is intense. The detailed narratives of supporting characters like Han Sooyoung, Jung Heewon, and Lee Hyunsung are also meticulously crafted, resulting in excellent team chemistry. Starting with a constellation-based apocalyptic style in the early parts, it delves deeper into the secrets and origins of the worldbuilding towards the latter half, with impressive plot-twist resolutions and an emotional climax near the end. As the world expands on a universal scale, concepts of space-time and settings become complex, creating a somewhat high barrier to entry after the mid-point. This work goes beyond simple 'satisfying' plot-driven fusion fantasy; it's like a dedication to those who love stories. If you enjoy the fantasy genre, it's a masterpiece that is definitely worth reading at least once to experience its high-quality narrative.

Monster

This is the legendary manga [Monster] drawn by Naoki Urasawa. Serialized from 1994 to 2001, it concluded with 18 volumes. Everything begins when Kenzo Tenma, a Japanese neurosurgeon working in Germany, saves the life of a young boy named Johan instead of a prominent politician who was brought in under the hospital director's political orders. He upheld his conscience as a doctor, but the problem was that Johan, whom he chose to save, was a villain who committed murder without hesitation. Nine years after saving Johan, Kenzo Tenma learns of this fact and, to take responsibility for the consequences of his choice, becomes a fugitive accused of murder and pursues Johan. This is the main plot. With its vast narrative, three-dimensional supporting characters, and the overwhelmingly compelling villain Johan, it is still considered one of the best in the suspense thriller manga genre. Among Naoki Urasawa's thriller works, this is arguably the one with the cleanest plot-thread recovery and ending.

I started reading this comic in high school, and it's still not finished. It's a legendary Korean martial arts comic that has been loved for decades. The exciting adventures of the protagonist, Han Bi-gwang, who is quirky and cheeky but hides immense martial arts talent, unfold thrillingly. It boasts overwhelming immersion with its blend of spectacular martial arts action, refreshing comedy, and the charm of its three-dimensional characters. It's the greatest masterpiece of Korean comics that anyone, young or old, can easily and enjoyably appreciate.

[Slight Spoilers in Review] Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer, which handles the 'demon' part of 'demon slayer'. The manga is just okay, but the anime is quite a masterpiece. It's a manga that heavily benefited from its anime adaptation. All of the anime's theme songs are famous, and the songs by LISA and Aimer are particularly good. The main story is about the protagonist, Kamado Tanjiro, becoming a demon slayer and using the Water Breathing technique to kill demons. In the final battle, most of the top Hashira (Pillars) die, and Tanjiro also doesn't live for a long time. In the final episode, we see the appearances of everyone reborn in modern times, but whether everyone was satisfied with that is indeed questionable. The Character Book Vol. 3 and the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Official Fanbook Vol. 2 mainly contain character introductions and settings, so unless you're a hardcore fan, there's no reason to buy them. The side story contains content about Tomioka Giyu and Rengoku KyoJuro, and it might be worth reading if you're a fan of either of them. In addition, there are officially novelized light novels, and there's also a manga called Kimetsu Academy which is more fun than the original manga (planned for review tomorrow), so I recommend it if you're a fan.

[Review w/ Spoilers] Neon Genesis Evangelion New Edition

I will omit the content. It contains spoilers up to the conclusion. In the primordial Earth, the white moon Adam falls. Its descendants later became the beings humans call Angels, and ate the fruit of life. After that, the black moon Lilith falls to Earth. Due to the impact (First Impact), Adam's children fall asleep, and Earth comes to be dominated by Lilith's children (another form of Angels). Humans eat the fruit of knowledge and spread their descendants. A long time later, humans cause the Second Impact through contact with Adam, and in the process, Adam's children awaken. Humans form an organization called NERV and use Evangelions to defeat the Angels. However, this was for the Human Instrumentality Project (LCLization), which was intended for humans to apologize to Adam by dying once (LCLization), after which they would regain their human form and live on. LCLization means becoming one life form by liquefying everyone, and in this state, humans can return to their original selves if they know who they are.

Intricate and Grand World-building: The complex conflicts and rules between gods, suras, and humans, based on Indian mythology, are meticulously crafted. Numerous plot threads are skillfully resolved, leading to high praise for the story's completeness. Tragic and Profound Narrative: It deals with unavoidable fate and tragedy to the extent that people say, "There are almost no happy characters." It's highly recommended for readers who prefer a heavy and heart-wrenching storyline over a lighthearted one. Multi-dimensional Character Relationships: There's no simple good vs. evil dynamic. Each character has justifiable reasons from their own perspective, and their intertwined compassion and tragedy make you empathize with all of them. Initial Barrier: While there might be an initial hurdle with the art style or the steep learning curve (vast settings, slow-paced early development), once you get accustomed to the world, it offers immense immersion. If you enjoy epic fantasy sagas or complex plot-thread-resolving stories, this is definitely a strong recommendation.

[Review] Attack on Titan: A Choice Without Regret

A short manga depicting how Levi met Erwin and the process of him joining the Survey Corps. First off, the art style alone gets a pass. Also, since most of the content involves ODM gear maneuvers, it's a light read. Thanks to Captain Levi's popularity, it was even adapted into an anime OVA. Reading this work, you'll understand why the statement 'make a choice you won't regret, no matter what choice you make' in the main story holds true. Levi made a choice, and that choice... he's probably regretting it immensely. Yet, he chose to move forward. He probably thought it was the way to repay everyone. If you want to see a young and cool Captain Levi, I recommend this work.

[Review] Attack on Titan: Lost Girls

An Attack on Titan spin-off manga. As the title suggests, the protagonists are Annie Leonhart and Mikasa Ackerman. Volume 1 focuses on Annie, telling the story of the day before the 57th expedition outside the walls. You can see that Annie is a more diligent and kind Military Police member than expected. Also, while not a full Titan transformation, you can glimpse a slightly transformed state. Volume 2 focuses on Mikasa, and depicts the time around when she first met Eren. Mikasa was very young and weak around this time. However, Eren helped her overcome her fear of the forest. It was a short spin-off manga that offered a good look at unexpected sides of these two characters. It has no relation to the main story, but it's worth reading for fans who like these two.
