Today's Diary (September 1st)

I thought I was going to wrap up the day peacefully again. After class, I was walking leisurely while looking at my smartphone when I saw a familiar bus closing its doors at a stop far away. "Huh? Isn't that my bus?" 0.5 seconds to recognize, 0.5 seconds to grasp the situation, and another 1 second for my body to react. After a total delay of 2 seconds, I started sprinting... but I realized once again that life isn't that easy. The bus had already smoothly departed, and I was left panting at the bus stop, only watching its receding taillights. Looking at the electronic display at the bus stop, the next bus was 23 minutes away. 23 minutes can be considered short or long, but it's precisely that awkward amount of time where you can't really do anything. Going to a cafe seemed risky because I might miss the bus while queuing and ordering, and just standing there made my legs ache... In the end, I sat on the bus stop bench, killing time by people-watching. In that fleeting moment when the bus doors were closing, I think my eyes met the driver's. He must have seen me...
