Any tips for savings accounts?
I'm thinking about opening a savings account these days. After starting my job and receiving my first paycheck, I realized I need to start building a habit of saving money little by little. Even if it's hard to save a large sum at once, I believe that by consistently saving a certain amount each month, it will eventually grow into a substantial nest egg. However, there are various types of savings accounts, and their interest rates and terms differ, so I'm wondering which product to choose. I'm considering whether a flexible savings account, where I can deposit based on my financial flexibility, would be good, or a regular savings account where I deposit a fixed amount each month. I plan to start without overdoing it, within a budget that doesn't strain my living expenses. I'm not very knowledgeable about financial products yet, so I plan to take this opportunity to compare interest rates and slowly find a product that suits my situation. Consistency is important even when starting with small amounts, right? How does everyone else save? Do you set a fixed amount to save each month, or do you save a little whenever you have extra funds? I'm curious.

They say starting is half the battle, and you're doing great! Since you're a diligent person, I recommend starting with a regular savings account where you deposit a fixed amount each month to build the habit. Consistency is key, so let's keep going step by step like you are now.

I prefer a fixed amount. With a flexible savings account, I always find excuses not to deposit money ㅠㅠ. And when the savings mature, I either put it into a fixed deposit or, if the amount isn't large, into a parking account!

There are savings accounts for young professionals with high interest rates. Check with your main bank~

A fixed-term savings account is good. You put money in as if it's not there, and then before you know it, it matures and you have a lump sum! I tend to have expenses around that time, so I don't have much left, but thanks to it, I've managed to get through tough times.

When I was actively playing, I used a set amount and opted for multiple small investments (100,000-200,000 KRW) rather than a large lump sum at once. This is because you might face a situation where you have to break your savings for an unexpected need for a large sum of money~

There are savings accounts that offer preferential interest rates for young adults. If you meet the age requirement, it would be good to sign up when you can. I found out after it was too late, so I couldn't join them, though ㅠㅠ I've always set up a savings account since before, where 70% of my salary is automatically transferred every month. I didn't really have a need for large sums of money. Anyway, if you track your expenses and set up automatic transfers for more than your usual spending amount, you'll feel it's a waste to break the account, which helps you spend less. This isn't to say you have to do it exactly like me, but I think it's one of the helpful ways to save money if you get into the habit. In that way, I have a place for consistent, regular expenses, and I put any occasional income elsewhere. Also, these days, there are savings products with high interest rates (over 3%) but they limit the monthly deposit to around 30. Instead, you can't set up automatic transfers, and you have to remember to deposit to get the interest rate. I happened to have worked for a P2P investment-related company, so I also have some P2P investments going. However, I diversify with single-digit percentages per investment.

First off, I tend to set a fixed amount each month. If I just save a little whenever I have extra, it's easy to skip, so when my salary comes in, I first deduct taxes, then put money into savings, set aside living expenses, and put the rest into another emergency fund account. If you're considering a savings account, I recommend looking into the various products banks offer and opting for a fixed savings plan. If you're just starting your career, there's a savings account called 'Youth Future Savings' or something similar, provided by the government for young people. It might be worth looking into that too.

Can you recommend a KakaoBank MMF with a high interest rate that's close to home?

South Korea has great youth support systems ㅎㅎ Most banks offer preferential savings accounts for young adults, and the interest rates are likely quite high. You can also find them quickly by using financial apps ㅎㅎ Apps like Toss, Finnq, and Naver Pay will recommend options if you input your application environment ㅎㅎ

Make sure to save at least 50%. It's easier to save if you set a fixed amount rather than a flexible savings account. Congratulations on your first paycheck, and manage your money well to become rich!

If you're a young professional and your goal is to save money, you can do it with regular savings accounts, but first, you need to consider whether you can save money regularly or whenever you earn income. In the past, people opened installment savings accounts because the interest rates were high, but now I think the profits from other investments are higher. If you really want to make a profit through installment savings, meaning bank interest, I recommend short-term accounts of 6 months to 1 year. After that, observe the flow of your money.

I used to put about 60-65% of my salary into savings. Of that 60%, I'd put 70% into a regular savings account, 20% for expenses I might need anytime (like vacations or special occasions), and 10% for emergencies!

I recommend regular savings accounts. But consider your financial situation and leave some money aside.

When the amount gets larger, a fixed deposit is better than a savings account. Unless you're planning to invest in stocks or other financial products, that is. ㅇㅇ

If you're a beginner, I recommend the Youth Preferential Savings Account recommended by someone above. Also, K Bank's 'Curious Savings' where you can deposit up to 50,000 won daily is quite good. The interest rate is 7.6%, so it's a bit tedious to deposit manually every day, but it's worth it.
