The Fire Bureau pointed out that as a firefighter, the individual has a duty to protect lives but instead engaged in animal cruelty, severely damaging the honor of the fire department. The bureau will convene a performance review committee to deliberate on a disciplinary action of two demerits and will immediately transfer him from his current post, designating him as a key subject for guidance. The direct supervisors' inadequate oversight will also be investigated. The Animal Disease Control Center stated that according to the 'Animal Protection Act,' no one shall harass, abuse, or injure an animal. Violators may face a fine of NT$15,000 to NT$75,000. If an animal is intentionally injured, resulting in severe limb disfigurement, loss of vital organ function, or death, the offender may be sentenced to up to two years in prison or detention, along with a fine of NT$200,000 to NT$2,000,000. The firefighter even claimed he acted out of fear that the dog would attack him. What a load of BS. 🙄

I saw many IG videos introducing this beautiful place, so I came to experience it myself. First, transportation wasn't difficult, you just need to be careful about the train's direction. Also, the official train website sells discount tickets, saving 4 euros per person, which is about 150 NTD, quite a good deal (save some money to eat grilled lake trout). The beauty of the scenery really depends on the weather and light of the day. I recommend using Salzburg as a base, and if the weather is good, go to Hallstatt first. For the experience, of course, it's the cable car + salt mine. The cable car first takes you to the highest point of Hallstatt, where you can explore and enjoy the view before heading to the salt mine to learn about the local history (this is one of Europe's very old settlements because everyone comes to buy salt). The salt mine is fun and interesting, allowing you to understand why salt is found in the mountains and how they extract it. Lastly, the grilled trout caught from the lake, I can say it was meaningful and delicious, but unfortunately, it was too small 😅. 24.9€ (Maybe the fish in Taiwan are just too big).

Four black and white, neutered puppies were found dead in a ditch. Three died on the spot, while the fourth convulsed and died in extreme agony. Unidentified vomit and suspected poisoned bait were found at the scene. A witness lamented, "They were already neutered, why would anyone want to exterminate them?" Upon receiving the report at 2:05 PM on the 7th, the Tainan City Animal Protection and Health Office immediately dispatched personnel to the scene for a thorough search, confirming that a total of 4 dogs were affected. Animal protection officers have collected the dogs' vomit and suspected poisoned bait for testing. One dog's body was also taken for further examination of stomach contents to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary investigations suggest the puppies died from ingesting rat poison. The Guiren Police Precinct is simultaneously reviewing surveillance footage from the surrounding area to identify any suspicious individuals who may have placed the poisoned bait. The Animal Protection Office and the police are jointly investigating the case. Notably, there have been persistent reports of cats and dogs being poisoned along Provincial Highway 157, from Guiren to the border of Kaohsiung, for many years. Residents suspect a connection to nearby poultry and livestock farms. According to Article 25-1 of the Animal Protection Act, individuals who use drugs to cause the death of multiple animals, with severe circumstances, can face imprisonment of 1 to 5 years and a fine of NT$500,000 to NT$5,000,000. The competent authority may also publish the offender's name, photo, and details of the violation. The Animal Protection Office emphasized that if intentional poisoning is confirmed, the perpetrator will be prosecuted according to the law without leniency. If they were indeed poisoned, what kind of grudge could lead to such cruelty? 😦
