Attention LINE Pay Users!

Does everyone use LINE Pay usually? There's a major cybersecurity news you need to be aware of lately ⚠️ According to the latest report from S2W, a South Korean threat intelligence cybersecurity company, someone is selling up to 750,000 pieces of personal data of Taiwanese LINE Pay users on a Chinese dark web forum called 'Chang'an Buyecheng'! The most shocking part is that for such a large amount of data, including names, phone numbers, national ID numbers, and birthdays, the seller is only asking for $399 USD (approximately NT$13,000). It's chillingly cheap for personal data on the dark web... Experts have stated that it's not yet 100% certain if LINE Pay's core system was breached by hackers. Often, such data leaks can originate from third-party merchants they cooperate with, or be pieced together from old, previously leaked data. Regardless of the truth, this means our phone numbers, names, or spending records might already be circulating on the dark web. If you receive messages lately saying 'Your LINE account is abnormal and requires verification,' 'Click the link to claim your LINE Pay rewards,' or any other suspicious SMS, sales calls, or even overly familiar scam messages, do not click on any links! It's really impossible to prevent personal data leaks these days 🫠
