Horror Short Story | The Remote
Chen Cheng bought a TV remote from a second-hand store. It looked exactly like his old one, but it was much cheaper. His original remote's buttons were getting sticky, so he thought he'd replace it. He got home, put in batteries, and it worked. But he noticed an extra button at the bottom, unlabeled, and it didn't seem to do anything when pressed. He didn't think much of it and continued using it. That night, he fell asleep watching TV. He woke up in the middle of the night to find the TV off and the remote on the floor. He picked it up and saw that the extra button was glowing, faintly pulsing. He pressed it. The TV didn't turn on. But he heard a sound from the next apartment, like someone falling off a bed. He was puzzled. He was the only resident on this floor. The next day, he asked the landlord if anyone lived next door. The landlord said no, it was a storage room. That night, he pressed the button again. This time, he heard footsteps from the next apartment, moving slowly towards his wall. He pressed his ear against the wall. The footsteps stopped. Instead, there was a soft tapping on the wall, three times. He didn't dare respond and threw the remote into a drawer. The next morning, he found the remote back on his desk, the extra button still glowing. He picked up the remote and found a small line of text next to the button, as if carved with a knife: "Each press brings the person next door one step closer to you." He froze. Just as he was about to put it down, the button lit up on its own, as if someone on the other side had pressed something. This time, the sound he heard wasn't from next door. It was from the closet behind him. The closet door slowly creaked open, revealing pitch darkness. From within the darkness, a hand reached out, holding

Moon Star Moon Otherworld
Continuing Chapter 1. A faint blue light appeared on her fingertips, about the size of a grain of rice. It flickered a few times and then disappeared. Her forehead immediately broke out in a light sweat, and her body felt a wave of fatigue. It seemed that these ten points of magic didn't mean she could cast powerful spells right away. "At least... it proves I have magic," Moon Star Moon said in a low voice. She kept this in mind, deciding to set aside time every day to study and practice magic, gradually mastering this power. The most important thing right now was still to fill her stomach. Her stomach rumbled loudly. Gurgle— Moon Star Moon looked down and patted her stomach. "Magic can wait, I need to eat first." She walked to the only wooden table in the room. On it sat a chipped earthenware bowl, containing only half a bowl of murky water. Beside it was a small bag of hard, dry rye bread. She picked up a piece of bread and took a bite. It was as hard as a stone. The sour and moldy taste of the rye spread in her mouth, almost making her vomit, but hunger quickly suppressed her taste buds. Moon Star Moon frowned, slowly eating the entire piece of bread and drinking a few sips of water. This was barely enough to fill her stomach. She needed food. More importantly, she needed to know what abilities she possessed. Surely a transmigrator wouldn't just come with poverty and a white tail? As soon as this thought crossed her mind, the screen in front of her changed again. 【Food】 【Drinks】 【Clothing】 【Household Goods】 【Tools】 【Medicine】 【Furniture】 【Other】 She clicked on Food.

After Transmigration, I Became a God Through Plunder --- Chapter 17, A Chance Encounter During an Outing (5)
Above it was written a person's life and deeds, their hometown, year of death, and lifespan, much like an epitaph from a past life. And the name at the beginning truly surprised me, because it read Shen Fu, courtesy name Zhongrong. Perhaps not many people are familiar with this name, but upon hearing another name, you should know: Shen Wansan. The richest man in Jiangnan during the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties. Legend has it that because his wealth was so immense, Zhu Yuanzhang became jealous and exiled him, leading to his death as the richest man in Jiangnan. The legendary Treasure Gathering Basin was in his possession, and after his death, no more legends about it emerged.

After Transmigrating, I Rely on Plundering to Become a God --- Chapter 17: A Chance Encounter While Wandering (4)
After a while, the sound of snoring echoed from the tents. It seemed many people had already fallen asleep, and I was about to get up and return to my tent. However, I noticed a circular, water-blue halo with faint silvery-white light waves on the water surface not far away. It wasn't far from the shore, but from my current position on the large rock, it was only about a meter away, a distance I could easily jump across. I glanced back at the tents. One of my dad's companions was sitting by the campfire, keeping watch. Although he occasionally glanced my way, he didn't pay too much attention, as the area was considered safe. Faced with such a scene, even having lived two lives, I couldn't resist my curiosity. Since it was close to the shore and I could swim, I took advantage of the night watchman's momentary distraction and leaped towards the halo. Strangely, instead of feeling the sensation of entering the water, I felt like I was sliding down a transparent passage, as if on a waterslide. Occasionally, I could see fish swimming by in the moonlight, but the visibility was poor due to the lack of light. However, I didn't feel any danger. When my feet touched the ground, it was surprisingly dry. At this point, some light emanated, illuminating a roughly five-meter radius around me. It was still a water-blue glow, enveloping a stone gate that was half-open on an underwater reef. I walked over and saw some words carved into the adjacent stone wall, words I could understand. Don't be surprised that I could understand them. You must know that after the cultural divide, all written languages changed. The carved text was precisely in the Song Dynasty style.

Horror Short Story | The Umbrella
It started pouring rain when Shen Jing was leaving work. He took shelter under the eaves of a building and found a black umbrella leaning against the wall. The umbrella was old, its ribs a bit rusty, but still usable. He looked around, saw no one, and took it to go home. Upon arriving home, he hung the umbrella on the balcony, not thinking much of it. The next day when he went out, the rain had stopped. As he went downstairs, he found an extra umbrella in his hand – the black one from last night. He was sure he'd left it on the balcony, so when did he take it? He thought he must have been mistaken and took the umbrella upstairs to put it away. That evening when he returned home, the umbrella was hanging on the doorknob. He froze. He was certain he had left this umbrella on the balcony. He picked up the umbrella to inspect it and found a line of text written on the inside surface, as if written with a white pen: "Take me out." Shen Jing felt creeped out. He stuffed the umbrella into a trash bag and threw it into the large dumpster downstairs. The next morning when he went out, the umbrella was leaning against his front door, neatly folded, as if someone had found it and put it back. He opened the umbrella and the text inside had changed: "You throw me away once, and I'll follow you for a day." Shen Jing no longer dared to throw it away and hid the umbrella in the deepest part of a cabinet. But from that day on, every time he went out, that umbrella would appear in his bag. He'd take it out and leave it at home, and the next time he went out, it would be back in his bag. One day, he worked late and left the company to find it was raining. He hadn't brought an umbrella and was about to call a taxi when suddenly an umbrella appeared in his hand. It was black, with rusty ribs. He opened it and found more text inside: "Today, it's your turn to take me home." Shen Jing opened the umbrella and walked into the rain. Midway, he noticed water dripping from inside the umbrella, but his head remained dry.

After Transmigrating, I Rely on Plunder to Become a God --- Chapter 17: A Strange Encounter in the Wild (3)
I didn't have many feelings about killing a non-aggressive creature. After all, I had personally cooked too many ingredients in my past life. However, after killing the opponent, I realized something. My second talent allowed me to see a spot on the corpse shimmering with a faint light. Perhaps that was the essence of this ingredient. However, I didn't try to eat it to plunder. Instead, I sent the entire burrowing rat into the spatial dimension of the little furball because it had been crying out in hunger for a long time. Before, I would just throw in meat for it to digest. This was the first time giving it an entire corpse. I wonder if it could digest it? Anyway, with Dad and the others around, one burrowing rat wasn't a significant amount of food, assuming they could catch any fish. At night, I lay on a large rock by the riverbank, gazing up at the starry sky. The night sky here seemed more beautiful and brilliant than at the academy. Moreover, it was a full moon tonight, so bright and clear. It couldn't help but remind me of the Mid-Autumn Festival in my past life. "How is it? Beautiful outside the city, isn't it?" Dad appeared beside me at some point. Seeing him so serious for the first time made me a little unaccustomed. "It's beautiful. It's just... when will everyone be able to see such beautiful scenery?" I couldn't help but sigh under this starry sky. "They will. One day, everyone will be able to watch the beautiful scenery with peace of mind." Dad said with great certainty. It seemed he wasn't as carefree as he appeared. "Alright, let's go back to sleep after watching for a bit. Children shouldn't stay up late, and be careful not to fall into the water." "Got it. I'll watch a little longer."

After Transmigrating, I Rely on Plunder to Become a God --- Chapter 17, Outdoor Adventure (2)
Since we were within the safe zone outside the city walls, there were multiple patrols daily to prevent high-level beasts from appearing. While not absolutely safe, the danger wasn't high. The lake water was crystal clear, with many fish swimming within. It looked peaceful, but don't underestimate these fish; you might become their prey someday. When the eight of us (yes, four adults and four children) reached the lake shore, the adults actually took out fishing gear and became anglers! Leaving the four of us kids to play like this was clearly a pretense to broaden our horizons; fishing was the real goal. My parents said this outing was for a week, to ensure I could get used to the ecosystem and experiences outside the city. So, they actually left us children to set up facilities like outdoor tents. Subsequent tasks included gathering firewood and starting a fire. Of course, combat skill practice couldn't be skipped, but the practice targets changed from wooden dummies and humans to beasts. Naturally, the beasts were chosen by my dad and the others, aiming for us to successfully attempt real combat under guaranteed safety. And the ingredients for dinner were the beasts we fought, so today was also the first time I shed blood in this life. My opponent, after my identification, was a burrowing rat, about half a meter long, similar in size to a Corgi dog in my past life. It had a gentle nature, ate insects, was non-aggressive, and liked to dig in the ground to find and eat bugs. This rat was different from the culprits of the incident in the community before; those were omnivorous, aggressive black rats. This burrowing rat was classified as a harmless creature.

Horror Short Story | Helmet
While waiting at an intersection on his way home from work, Shen Jing stopped next to a motorcycle. The rider wore a full-face helmet with a dark, opaque visor, obscuring their face. Shen Jing glanced sideways and noticed the helmet looked very old, like something from over a decade ago. When the light turned green, the other motorcycle pulled away first. Shen Jing followed behind, finding that the rider was going very slowly, maintaining a consistent distance ahead of him. At the next intersection, the other motorcycle stopped. Shen Jing stopped too. The rider turned their head and looked at him through the dark visor. Feeling a chill crawl up his spine, Shen Jing sped away as soon as the light turned green. After riding for two blocks, he checked his rearview mirror and saw the same helmet still behind him, at the same distance and speed. He started to accelerate, darting into narrow alleys and taking several sharp turns. In the rearview mirror, the helmet was gone. He let out a sigh of relief and slowed down. It was then he realized there was another helmet on his head. A full-face one, with a dark visor. He reached up to take it off, but the buckle was jammed shut, impossible to release. Inside the visor, words appeared as if someone had written them with a fingertip on fogged glass: "If you wear my hat, you have to finish riding for me." Shen Jing froze. He remembered the rider from earlier. He looked down at his motorcycle; it wasn't his. A faded photograph was stuck to the dashboard. In the photo, a young man wearing the same style of helmet smiled at the camera. Next to the photo was a date: fifteen years ago. He kept riding, unable to stop. The motorcycle moved forward on its own, taking him down roads he'd never traveled, finally stopping in front of a motorcycle shop. The metal gate was half open, and a single light shone from within. An old man walked out.

After Transmigrating, I Became a God by Plundering --- Chapter 17: A Wilderness Adventure (1)
The winter break in this world lasts a whopping 2 months, so naturally, the academy won't let students just play around and will assign some goals as homework. However, for students like us who haven't been enrolled for a full year and haven't started formal combat training. The so-called winter break homework mostly consists of combat skills, academics, and meditation. Of course, it's not impossible for some parents to add special assignments for their children. Like my dad, who unusually didn't leave early this morning and instead suggested taking me outside the city. Previous incidents had already proven that the city wasn't absolutely safe, but at least there weren't any overly powerful beasts. But outside the city, the military guards on the walls are gone, and one must face the beasts head-on. Moreover, I'm still a child; what's gotten into my dad. "Don't worry, dear. The lake about a kilometer outside the city is quite safe. Besides, we'll be with some of our teammates. It's mainly to broaden the child's horizons and lay the groundwork for their second year." Under the murderous gazes of my mom and the kitten, Dad conceded. He quickly stated the real purpose and guaranteed safety. That's right, because the kitten shares the same soul as Mom, their thoughts are almost identical, which is quite normal for high-level cultivators. So, with Dad's repeated assurances, he successfully took me out from under the city walls' protection. After meeting up with three other father-child pairs at the city gate, we headed towards the large lake outside the city. No one knows the name of this lake, but because it emits faint glowing spots at night, it's called Night Spot Lake.

After Transmigrating, I Became a God by Plundering --- Chapter 16: Exclusive Weapon Obtained (5)
Wen Yue had no choice with the three of us: a prickly turtle, a fierce rose, and a seemingly harmless but incredibly fast-learning prodigy. Fortunately, the students in his other classes were normal, so he had nothing more to teach us three. Winter break was fast approaching, and the three of us planned to go home to reunite with our parents, as we couldn't leave the academy during the study period. We were only 12-13 years old, and being away from our parents for so long would naturally make any child feel uneasy. However, I, having lived two lives, was an exception.
