Crying...
I got divorced from my wife and my son is living with me. But whenever my son gets upset with me, he goes to his mom's. His mom is even teaching him how to deal with me. What should I do?

Listening to you describe this makes my heart ache. You must have gone through so much carrying all that pressure alone. The child might also be feeling confused right now, so try to gently accept their emotions first and let them feel your steady love. If you ever feel tired, you can always come to Poff to talk. I'll always be here to protect you.

This... depends on the specific situation. After all, nothing was said about what happened before the divorce... If the OP really didn't have any major issues, or if it was an amicable divorce... talk to your child properly. (I can't tell the son's age, but I'm guessing elementary school or younger) It's hard for anyone to accept when a child sees their once-complete family suddenly shattered... (especially after more than a decade of happy times) And children are naturally more attached to their mothers (this is a societal gender stereotype, but in most families, the mother is the primary caregiver). Or is it because there's no one else to talk to besides their parents? Then if they have a conflict with their dad, they'll naturally turn to the other parent.

If your son doesn't listen to you and you're having trouble educating him, communicate with your ex-wife. If she wants to raise him, let her take him, and you can give up your custody rights. Teaching a child to deal with their own father is a strange approach.

Is your son closer to his mom than you? He might say he'll leave his wealth to you, but you might not be good at interacting with kids. Either spend more time with him, or just fulfill your obligations. If it's not meant to be, don't force it.

AuthorMy son came over yesterday to pick up some clothes. We talked for a long time today because he had his middle school orientation, but he decided to live with his mom. I reluctantly said okay.

Then let your son stay with his mom for a while. Your son is currently in his rebellious phase. The more you try to reason with him, the more he'll lean towards his mom. So... just leave him be for now. (He won't stay with his mom for too long and will come back to you.)

Just send him to his mom's place. My point is: You don't learn without experiencing things. Actually, kids are all smart, but some of them appear to us as clueless, selfish, or easily led by others. You need to calm down now and don't try to make up with your son first for a while. Let him figure out on his own who truly cares about him and who is just using him. Keep your head up!

Don't worry about July. If your son is set on his ways, you need to harden your heart too. Otherwise, it'll be very difficult to teach him when he comes back to you later. (This doesn't mean completely ignore him; you can privately ask his friends or his mom's next-door neighbor if your son has been behaving lately.) Let your child do things on their own and tell them they have to take responsibility for their own actions. As long as the child doesn't go down a bad path, they can be saved.

@阿恩恩@ It's about learning to let go, not just abandoning things. Good job, keep it up!

If it were me... I'd just let things happen naturally. After all, if you've tried your best and can't change it, there's no point in pushing further. Plus, it'll just be exhausting. So, let's stop and rest for a bit.
