Ba-wan is cheap and delicious, two for 50 is a great deal!

"Zhu Lian Ba-wan" is very easy to find. It's located at No. 28, Xida Road, East District, Hsinchu City, not far from the Xida Road underpass. The big yellow sign with "Zhu Lian Ba-wan" written on it is very eye-catching! The most eye-catching thing is the huge deep fryer at the entrance! Watching the boss skillfully cook each ba-wan in the low-temperature oil pot and then drain it is truly mesmerizing! The aunties are all busy in red aprons, and the business is really good. Even though I came on a weekday, there was a constant stream of dine-in and takeout customers. However, the turnover rate is fast, so you usually don't have to wait too long for a seat. One serving is two pieces, and 50 NT dollars for this is a great deal in my opinion! Most ba-wan in Hsinchu are deep-fried, and Zhu Lian Ba-wan's skin is fried just right. It has a good thickness and a very chewy, springy texture. It's not too hard, and you get a "boing boing" feeling when you bite into it! The filling is made of pork chunks marinated with red yeast rice and green onions. The meat is very firm, not too fatty, and with the shop's special orange-red sweet and spicy sauce, you really can't stop at just one! Hsinchu's meatballs are amazing!
