A Librarian Found in the Book Drop? 📚🐱

In January 1988, something very special happened at the Spencer Public Library in Spencer, Iowa, USA. On a cold night, for reasons unknown, someone placed an approximately 8-week-old orange kitten into the library's overnight book drop. The next day, when the librarians opened the book drop— There was a nearly frozen kitten among the books 🐱 After the librarians rescued the kitten, with the approval of the library board and city council, they decided to let it stay and even officially become a staff member of the library! Everyone named him Dewey Readmore Books. 'Dewey' comes from the 'Dewey Decimal System' (a method of classifying books) used by the library, and the latter part of his name sounds like 'Read more books.' A library cat with a perfectly library-themed name 📚 And Dewey truly had his own 'job description'! He would greet visitors, keep everyone company, and occasionally ride around on a book cart, gradually becoming the library's mascot. Later, people even traveled from afar just to see him. Dewey appeared in newspapers, on TV, and in documentaries, with his fame spreading overseas. He lived at the library for nearly 19 years. From a kitten left in a book drop on a cold winter night, he eventually became a world-famous library cat. You could say this job truly fell from the sky... no, it fell from the book drop 🐱📚
