Sleepless Mountain (27)

Just then, a strong gust of wind blew, sweeping away the surface snow. My mouth hung wide open. It turned out Wang Yi had already been dead for a long time, lying here. His eyes were wide open, staring unblinkingly in death. The corpse was frozen solid like an icicle. He must have been dead for at least three hours. I noticed Chen Ming and Sanda were also looking at me with blank expressions. It was then I realized The Wang Yi who had been with us all along, behind us, was gone. But I was sure We had been a group of four since we started climbing the mountain. It's impossible for three people to have a collective hallucination. Seeing a fourth person who didn't exist. So if the one who died here was the real Wang Yi, Then who was the Wang Yi who followed us from the fork in the path all the way up to this snow slope? Seeing one companion die a violent death, And another torn to pieces, Like the last straw, It completely shattered the remaining sanity of the three of us. The three grown men knelt on the snow slope and sobbed, Making whimpering sounds like puppies. After an unknown amount of time, Like a funeral procession, We lowered our heads with mournful expressions and continued down the mountain. Qingzi's scalp and Wang Yi's corpse, We left them all on that snow slope. Our simple gear was gradually discarded along the way. All three of us had lost the will to survive. We just wanted to lighten our load And get out of this place as quickly as possible. However, As if seeing through our thoughts, Thick fog rose again on the mountain in the afternoon. We couldn't discern the path ahead at all. Affected by the weather, We missed the C1 campsite. All along the way, we saw unfamiliar scenery. We had no idea where we were.
