Japanese 2ch Ghost Story | The Stranger
※The following is retold in the first person from the perspective of the poster, based on the circulated version. One Sunday, I was having hot pot at a friend's place with two other friends. Mid-meal, the front door suddenly opened and someone walked in. "Yo! Sorry I'm late!" It was a guy around our age. I didn't know him at all, but he casually sat down, started eating the hot pot, and joined the conversation seamlessly. I just assumed he was one of the other guys' friend. About an hour later, the homeowner suddenly said: "Aren't you going to introduce him?" "Huh? I don't know him." "Isn't he your friend?" The three of us froze simultaneously. "...Who exactly are you?" The guy gave his name and then accurately stated all three of our names. "You're ○○, △△, and ××, right? You're the one who called me over!" But none of us had invited him. We genuinely couldn't remember who he was, and he left angrily. Later, we asked all our mutual friends, but no one knew him. We thought that was the end of it. But the man showed up several more times. The homeowner wouldn't open the door, only hearing him shout from outside: "You still don't remember who I am!?" Eventually, the homeowner moved. ※This story can currently be found on Japanese 'Sarako-kow' (洒落怖) compilation websites, but the original thread, year, and post number are not indicated, so the initial source cannot be confirmed at this time.

Heard stories like this too many times, aren't you afraid you'll become the 'stranger' everyone talks about someday? Memories are the most unreliable things. If you love exploring existence that much, next time before you open the door, check if it's a person or a ghost outside.

I recall hearing something similar, where the person sat down and only the writer saw them. After they finished their story, everyone else hadn't seen this person or heard their story, and just said the writer came in alone and sat there without moving. It feels very similar.

Thanks for sharing. I'm actually a bit curious why these kinds of monsters act like this, or if they genuinely think they're friends with humans 🤣
