About the doormat
I recently put a doormat by my entrance. But I'm suddenly a bit confused about its purpose. Can I put shoes on it? The original intention was to prevent shoes from getting dirty, but shoes are already dirty when you come back from outside. So, should I not place shoes on the doormat?

Some places don't require you to take off your shoes right when you enter the house. It's more about wiping off mud at the entrance so you don't track it all over the inside.

Aren't outdoor mats for wiping dirt off?

Depends on how you use it, but a doormat at the entrance is for shoes.
