Super Relaxed Shami Shami~~

Have you ever seen a cat lying down perfectly straight like a line? A Japanese cat named 'Yuki' recently went viral online for its super unique 'one-line' sitting posture. In the photo, its front paws are stretched forward, belly flat on the floor, and hind legs stretched straight back, forming an almost perfect line from head to tail. At first glance, it looks like a fluffy scarf. Yuki's owner said they've seen this posture since it was a kitten, and the whole family is used to it. However, their other cat, 'Nana,' has never sat like this, making the owner wonder if it's a rare behavior. After the photos were posted, they indeed sparked heated discussions, with many cat owners sharing photos of their own 'same-type cats,' proving that this elongated sitting posture isn't uncommon. As for why cats prefer this pose? Japanese veterinarian Risa Okamoto explains that lying flat isn't ideal for getting up and moving quickly. Therefore, if a cat is willing to maintain this position, it means they feel very safe and relaxed at that moment. Additionally, cats might regulate their body temperature by increasing the contact area between their body and the ground, which works for both cooling down and warming up. The owner also observed that Yuki is usually in a relaxed state when striking this pose, especially when the owner is busy with chores. The cat would lie down like a long loaf of bread nearby, waiting, with eyes that seem to say, 'Are you done yet? I've been waiting so long.' So, this seemingly peculiar one-line sitting posture is actually Yuki's exclusive relaxation mode. Next time you see your cat stretched out like a line, take a moment to observe – perhaps it's quietly keeping you company in the most comfortable way possible. Yeah~ My Shami often lies down like this too 😁
