Reporting 'Troublemakers' Costs Skyrocket? Rumors of a '100 NTD Review Fee' for Traffic Violations Surface, Truth Behind Current

Internet Rumor Debunked: Recently, online rumors have spread claiming that a 'user pays' system will be implemented for traffic violation reports, with a 100 NTD review and processing fee per case. Fact-checking platform MyGoPen clarifies that this content is merely a proposal information circulating in online communities calling for signatures, and not a current regulation. While a similar proposal existed in 2023, it was ultimately not passed. • Current Reporting Regulations: Currently, citizens do not need to pay any fees to report traffic violations. Reporters simply need to visit the reporting webpage of each police agency, fill in their real name, ID number, contact information, and provide detailed information on the time and location of the violation, along with clear visual evidence. • Reward Regulations for Reporters: Common traffic violations (such as failure to signal, illegal parking, etc.) do not come with reporting rewards. Only in certain special circumstances, like assisting in reporting drunk driving or hit-and-run incidents, might rewards be given, but the actual disbursement of rewards depends on the specific regulations of each county or city.
