Yunlin's Tuku 'God.Shrine.Mountain.River' Special Exhibition Opens, Japanese Mikoshi Parade Showcases Cultural Inclusivity
• Japanese Mikoshi Reappears on the Streets: On September 25th, Yunlin's Tuku saw the return of Japanese mikoshi parades, absent for over 20 years. The 'Tuku Mikoshi Team,' composed of local residents, paraded in Japanese attire. • Special Exhibition Unveiled to Rekindle Memories: This event also marked the unveiling of the 'Tuku God.Shrine.Mountain.River' special exhibition (running until September 27th). Chairperson Chiu Tzu-ling hopes to rediscover forgotten Tuku stories through this exhibition. • Historical Context and Cultural Inclusivity: The history of the mikoshi, initially placed at Tuku Elementary School, was facilitated by the former town mayor's coordination for transfer to the Shun Tian Gong procession team, forming the mikoshi team and demonstrating the area's diverse cultural inclusivity. • Generational Succession and Future Outlook: Participants range from their 20s to over 70s. Town Mayor Chen Te-kai praised the cross-generational efforts. As processions require a scale of 100 people, the association plans to engage with campus clubs in the future to cultivate long-term members for a formal reorganization.
