Talking about the anime "Vinland Saga" ⚔️🌊｜Revised and Re-posted Old Article

The original manga concluded in 2025, with a total of 29 volumes. The adapted anime has aired two seasons so far, totaling 48 episodes, and a third season has not yet been announced. The story is set in the 11th-century Viking era, following the journey of a young boy named Thorfinn as he searches for the legendary ideal land, "Vinland." While the early part of the story focuses on war and revenge, as the plot progresses, the emphasis gradually shifts to Thorfinn's growth and choices at different stages of his life. Thorfinn, the protagonist, is a real historical figure. Since historical records of his youth are incomplete, the author used this gap to create the first half of the story, gradually connecting it with historical facts. This method of intertwining history and fiction is somewhat similar to "The Witch and the Beast," which I shared previously. Additionally, the official translated title for this work in Taiwan is "Hǎizì Zhànjì" (海賊戰記), but the original meaning of "Vinland Saga" is actually closer to "The Vinland Legend." "Pirate" is an important element in the early part of the story, and as the plot unfolds, you'll realize that "Vinland" is the true core of the entire work. I got into it about 2 years ago through the anime. After watching about half of it, I felt I had discovered it too late and immediately went to catch up on the manga! I really like Thorfinn's growth throughout his journey. Each stage has different feelings and goals, making his changes particularly convincing. After recently finishing the manga's ending, while it didn't completely meet my expectations, it remains a work I greatly admire overall. I plan to rewatch it from the beginning when I have free time. Perhaps I'll have different feelings about this journey then. I also look forward to the anime continuing to adapt the subsequent story 😁
