Taichung University Student's Question
Is 5700 NTD per month for food too much? This includes canned red bean soup for when I have my period and nuts, plus fruit once a week. I eat three meals a day because I have an ulcer. I feel like I won't have any money left by graduation...

Stomach ulcers require regular meals, so this budget is really tight. Perhaps we can look for ingredients that can supplement nutrition while also sharing the cost?

AuthorCooking is prohibited in the dorms, and the dorm fridge can only store fruit (personal mini-fridges are not allowed). You can only buy takeout or instant noodles/canned goods.

5700 is a bit too little. Prices are super high right now, a single meal costs around 100, so 5700 is really tough. You should still take good care of yourself. If it's really difficult, try talking to your parents.

Everyone's situation might be different, so calculating it yourself is the most accurate way.

Came to the board just to reply to you, pretty sincere right? LOLOLOL Getting back to the topic... Look for a part-time job, like in food service. They usually provide meals. If that doesn't work out, try a convenience store. You might be able to eat expired (but still good) food. This will significantly reduce your food expenses.

I recommend getting a part-time job. You can also look for simple cooking methods at your workplace. For example, prepare ingredients beforehand and cook red bean soup using an electric rice cooker, portion it out before your period, and use a thermos for double boiling in the dorm. You can also cook rice, portion and freeze it, then add steamed vegetables and your favorite convenience store protein. This will not only increase your income but also save on meal expenses.
