New Concepts in Emergency Aid / Is 'Call, Call, ABC' Outdated? Understand the New CPR in One Minute
There are many reasons for sudden collapse, and timely first aid may not always be enough to save someone. CPR doesn't guarantee a successful resuscitation; its purpose is to bridge the critical gap before the ambulance arrives, increasing the chances of survival. Don't mistakenly believe first aid is useless just because someone passed away despite receiving CPR. If someone collapses, remember the mantra: 'Call, Call, Push, Shock.' 1️⃣ Call: Tap their shoulders and loudly ask, "Can you hear me?" If there's no response and no normal breathing (including irregular gasping), start immediate aid. 2️⃣ Call: Dial 119 and find an AED. Don't just yell "Help me!" – point to specific people: "You in the red shirt, call 119!" "You with glasses, find an AED!" If you're alone, call 119, put it on speaker, and follow the instructions. 3️⃣ Push: Lay the patient flat on a firm surface. Interlock your hands, place the heel of your palm in the center of the chest, and push straight down with locked elbows. Key points: Push hard, push fast, let the chest recoil, and don't interrupt. For adults, compress 5-6 cm deep at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. If you don't know how to perform rescue breaths, continue chest compressions without stopping. 4️⃣ Shock: When using an AED, remember 'Power, Pads, Plug, Shock.' Turn it on, attach the pads, plug in the connector, and follow the voice prompts for defibrillation. Before analyzing the heart rhythm and delivering a shock, shout: "Everyone clear, don't touch the patient!" Ensure no one is touching the patient before shocking. After shocking, or if the AED determines no shock is needed, immediately resume chest compressions. ❤️🔥 Why not 'Call, Call, ABC' anymore? The old ABC approach put rescue breaths first, interrupting compressions and making people hesitant to help. The new CD approach prioritizes compressions and then defibrillation, emphasizing that continuous compressions and early defibrillation are key to saving lives.

The calling steps have become simpler, but AED usage should be more widespread among the public.
