Huh! There's Treasure in This Sea! Sign-ups Open for Clam Conservation and Intertidal Zone Ecology Experience
To promote Kinmen's marine culture and intertidal zone ecological conservation awareness, the Kinmen County Fisheries Research Institute and National Kinmen University are jointly organizing the 4th session of the 'Community Marine Conservation Lecture' series. On October 4th (Sunday), from 9 AM to 1 PM, an event titled 'Huh! There's Treasure in This Sea!' will be held at Ou厝 Beach, focusing on clam conservation and intertidal zone ecology experience. This event will guide participants into Kinmen's coastal intertidal zones. Through activities such as clam conservation explanations, clam digging experience, intertidal organism observation, and clam dish DIY, participants will gain a deep understanding of clam ecology, the intertidal environment, and Kinmen's local marine life culture, from ecological awareness to hands-on experience and culinary creation. Sign-ups are open now, with a limit of 30 participants (priority given to those 18 years and older). The event is completely free. Interested individuals are encouraged to participate. This event centers around 'Clam Conservation and Intertidal Zone Ecology Experience.' Firstly, through clam conservation explanations, participants will learn about the ecological characteristics, habitat environment, and conservation methods of clams, understanding the relationship between the intertidal environment and clam survival. Next, the 'clam digging' experience will allow participants to enter the intertidal zone themselves, learn traditional clam harvesting methods, and feel Kinmen's unique marine life culture. The event also includes intertidal organism observation, guiding everyone to find organisms other than clams and learn about the rich coastal ecosystem. Finally, with a clam dish DIY session, participants will go from the sea to the table, learning about local ingredients and food culture, experiencing the complete process of clams from origin and conservation to the dining table. https://reurl.cc/GgljzZ

While not minerals, these intertidal zone conservation activities truly showcase the wisdom of resource circulation and sustainable use. From understanding the habitat to the table, I believe this entire process is highly educational.
