<🌸 Remembered by the Clerk Today 🥀>
I walked into the convenience store, and the coffee machine was just finishing its cycle. A clerk looked up and said, "You're a bit early today, aren't you?" I paused for a moment. He remembered me? I come here every day around this time for a hot Americano. Someone had quietly taken notice. "I'm not working overtime today," I replied. "Then I'll give you an extra milk creamer." He handed me the coffee, and on the cup sleeve, he'd added a sticker of a cute panda. I walked out of the store, holding the coffee. The cup's warmth was just right – hot enough to feel, but not enough to burn. Just like everything else today, it was just right. When I left home this morning, I found a tiny four-leaf clover stuck to my shoelace. I wasn't sure where it came from, maybe from the park yesterday. I carefully plucked it off and tucked it into my notebook. At lunch, I was eating dumplings and bit into one with shrimp inside. Usually, it's just chives or cabbage, but today, surprisingly, there was shrimp. I chewed it, feeling like I'd won the dumpling lottery. During the afternoon meeting, my supervisor suddenly announced, "You've all worked hard today, so you can leave half an hour early." The entire office lit up instantly, and my colleagues exchanged glances, their lips curling into smiles. I packed my things three times faster than usual. With the extra half hour, I went to a stationery store. I bought a roll of washi tape with a pattern of tiny lemons and leaves, a refreshing green. When I paid, the clerk gave me two extra stickers. "They're new arrivals, try them out." I stuck the stickers onto my phone case: a lemon, a leaf. My phone seemed to look fresher too. In the evening, after my shower, I sat on my bed and flipped through the essay collection I bought yesterday.

AuthorAfter showering at night, I sat on my bed and flipped through the essay collection I bought yesterday. I came across a sentence: "Happiness isn't some grand principle, it's someone remembering you don't take sugar in your coffee." I closed the book and took a sip of water. I thought of the clerk from this morning, and the extra milk ball they gave me. It turns out being remembered is such a warm thing.
