Cut hair lacks hair follicles: 'Nuclear DNA,' which is necessary for identifying individuals, is mainly concentrated in hair follicles. Simple cut hair strands cannot be used for identification. 2. Limitations of mitochondrial DNA: Cut hair strands only contain 'mitochondrial DNA,' which is maternally inherited. All your maternal relatives (like your mother, siblings) have the same mitochondrial DNA. Legally, it cannot be used as sole evidence for conviction. 3. Chemical damage during processing: Before real hair is made into a wig, it undergoes multiple chemical processes such as high-temperature washing, bleaching, and dyeing. Any trace amounts of sample would have long been destroyed. 4. Presumption of innocence and alibi: According to Article 154 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, facts of a crime shall be determined based on evidence.
