Clear Beef Noodles

Highly recommend 'Lao Zhan Yuan Ramen King' in Linkou for food! Their popularity is off the charts, and their signature dish is the clear beef ramen. Online reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with many people driving specifically for this one bowl! The shop is located right next to the Zhulin Temple in Linkou, which attracts many visitors. It's also close to the Huaya Science Park, drawing in many office workers and truck drivers during their breaks. There are quite a few street parking spots nearby, making it quite convenient for drivers. If you plan to visit, try to avoid peak hours, or you'll definitely have to wait in line for a while. I highly recommend trying their beef noodles at Lao Zhan Yuan Ramen King, they are absolutely amazing. And these radishes look incredible, they're so yellow, as if they've been simmering in the meat broth for ages. They look completely translucent. Lao Zhan Yuan Ramen King's lamb ramen and beef ramen actually share the same broth; the difference is just the meat. Lamb uses sliced meat, while beef uses shank. So, the sliced lamb is a bit underwhelming. Although the portion size is generous overall, the beef ramen is so outstanding that we all felt it's better to just go for the beef ramen (unless you don't eat beef). The noodles are the thick kind often found in noodle shops, with a decent texture, but not particularly mind-blowing. However, I love thick noodles, so they passed the test!! I think the key competitive edge lies with the beef shank. Usually, when I see such thick beef shank, I expect it to be dry and tough, maybe even get stuck in my teeth when I bite into it. But Lao Zhan Yuan's is surprisingly not like that. It's incredibly tender when you bite into it, with a slight savory flavor. My friend and I were both greatly impressed.
