Mercedes-Benz Illegally Parked in Middle of Road, Blocking 200 Cars, Yet No Fine Issued; Police Reveal Reason

On National Day, many people went to Wuling, Hehuanshan, in the early morning to enjoy the scenery and welcome the sunrise. However, a Mercedes-Benz owner parked their car in the middle of the only road leading to Wuling and walked up the mountain, causing at least 200 vehicles behind to be blocked, sparking public outrage. Yet, the owner was not fined in the end. Police stated that by the time they arrived at the scene, the vehicle had already been moved, and illegal parking is not among the items subject to immediate issuance of a citation based on photos submitted by the public, thus no fine could be imposed. Police stated yesterday (10th) that although they received a public complaint, the owner had already moved the vehicle by the time officers arrived at the scene, so an on-the-spot citation could not be issued. Furthermore, illegal parking is not an item that can be cited based solely on photos provided by the public, as stipulated in Article 7-1 of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act regarding immediate citations. On the morning of National Day, many people went to Wuling, Hehuanshan, to welcome the sunrise. When preparing to descend, they discovered a Mercedes-Benz sedan illegally parked in the middle of the only road leading to Wuling. The owner got out of the car and went up the mountain, causing at least 200 vehicles behind to be blocked, bringing traffic to a standstill for a time. Citizens captured the scene and criticized the owner for treating the road like their personal parking lot, calling it outrageous. When citizens approached to check, they found a contact number left on the Mercedes-Benz's front windshield. They contacted the owner via LINE using the phone number and asked, "Parking your car in the middle of the road and then disappearing, aren't you being a bit too much?" Unexpectedly, the owner responded that they parked in the middle of the road because the police were controlling traffic further up, and the car couldn't proceed. This explanation angered netizens, and some even tried to find the owner's social media accounts and contact them on LINE, but the owner has currently disabled LINE searches.
