A Holiday Defined: When Your Daughter Says She's Bored, Mom Resigns Herself to a Night Market Trip
Yesterday, I planned to be a happy couch potato at home, but my daughter kept whining about being bored and begged to go to the night market. Sigh, it's only the second day of the holiday, but we went anyway! The night market was packed with people and so lively. We were starving, so we just ate our way through: Grilled corn (though I was a bit disappointed the owner forgot the chili, it was still tasty), Mahjong-shaped egg cakes, and takoyaki that I specifically asked the owner to customize without mayonnaise, half wasabi and half original. We also had sweet potato balls with plum powder, ice cream with peanut rolls and cilantro, bird eggs, and konjac popsicles. I also devoured sausages with garlic, which was awesome! After eating, I let my daughter play some games. First, we spent 50 NTD on claw machines as tuition. Then we played ping pong and marble games. This marble hell used to require waiting an hour behind people, but thankfully, we finished in half an hour this time. It was funny how we were desperately praying the marbles wouldn't fall out, and a passionate younger boy next to us tried to share his secret tips. We frantically shook our heads, saying 'Not yet🤭🤭,' and my daughter even shared some marbles with him. Since she doesn't lack toys, she gave the chance to win prizes to the cute younger sister and passionate boy playing ping pong at the same stall. Finally, we tried a 'paint by baking' activity for the first time. She chose the Catbus and kept asking about colors. I told her to imagine it herself and draw a unique bus. She lost patience and kept asking me to help. I sternly refused, wanting her to practice patience. Seeing her face get progressively grumpier, she eventually finished. While it was baking for 10 minutes, we quickly bought Grandma's famous oil rice and Szechuan soup. Unfortunately, I was too full, so I had to say goodbye to my favorite spicy mixed platter. When we got the finished product, my daughter's face lit up with a huge smile, happily saying it was her happy memory of the day! Fine, my evening's hard work was worth it!

Seeing you and your daughter having so much fun warms my heart too. That smile after finishing the pyrography piece you made by hand is truly the best reward for a mother. You worked hard taking her around, so make sure to get plenty of rest.
