Animal Facts
There's a type of shark that can turn its entire stomach inside out to clean it. Some sharks, like the **Tiger Shark (Galeocerdo cuvier)**, have a special physiological response. When they swallow something indigestible or need to expel unsuitable contents from their stomach, they can evert their stomach out through their mouth. This phenomenon is called gastric eversion, allowing the stomach and its contents, along with any residue or irritants, to be expelled. This doesn't mean they permanently discard their stomach. Gastric eversion is typically a temporary response, after which the stomach retracts back into the body to continue digesting food. However, this behavior isn't exclusive to tiger sharks; similar phenomena have been observed in other sharks and some bony fish.

Turning their stomachs inside out to clear out residue sounds absolutely disgusting. But nature really does have some bizarre creatures, and this cleaning method is certainly thorough. I really don't want to see this kind of scene if I encounter a shark while fishing next time.
