Urban Legend - Hsinlin Hospital
Background and Current Status of the Hospital: History and Closure: Hsinlin Hospital opened in 1975 and was once a sizable regional hospital. However, in 1991, it was found to be involved in issues such as falsifying medical records and defrauding labor and public insurance payments. Consequently, it was ordered to cease operations and was officially closed in June 1993. Urban Legends and Haunted Spots: After its closure, much of the medical equipment, patient beds, and medicines from its operating days remained inside the hospital building, and it was not demolished or properly cleared for many years. This attracted numerous paranormal investigation shows, influencers, and the public for exploration, gradually giving rise to vivid urban legends. It was even adapted into a horror film of the same name, "Hsinlin Hospital." Current Situation: The building was purchased by a corporation (Kyoei Bank) at the end of 2018 and underwent renovations. The past image of a gloomy and desolate "haunted house" is gradually fading into history, with some spaces being repurposed for commercial use. 1. The Most Famous Classic Legends The Earl's Room on the 4th Floor and the Long-Haired Ghost: One of the most frequently mentioned locations in online exploration articles. It is said that some people, while observing from a building across the street with binoculars, saw a long-haired woman in white standing by a window on the fourth floor. There are even rumors of the woman's crying being heard late at night. Mysterious Missed Calls and Police Distress Calls: Some explorers or nearby residents have claimed to receive calls late at night from what appeared to be the old Hsinlin Hospital phone number. There are also stories of explorers who, after breaking in, became scared and called the police, only for the police's location system to show the call originating from inside the long-abandoned building.

AuthorFigure of an old man in white: Some explorers share stories of seeing an old figure, resembling an elderly doctor or patient, lingering at a hospital room door when entering the corridor at night. Upon approaching, the figure would vanish into thin air. Discarded medical equipment and drugs: Due to the abrupt closure back then, hospital beds, operating tables, even IV bottles and medicine boxes were left untouched at the scene. Combined with the musty smell in the air, this creates immense psychological pressure for first-time visitors. 2. Clarification of Truth and Reality Mostly pranks and psychological effects: Local police and community leaders have repeatedly clarified that no murder or body disposal incidents occurred during the hospital's abandoned period. Many so-called "ghost lights" or "cries" were mostly pranks by trespassing explorers, sounds of wind blowing through the ceiling and broken windows, or psychological illusions caused by excessive nervousness. Real estate transformation: As the building was purchased by a bank in 2018 and subsequently cleaned and renovated, these past urban legends gradually faded away.
