"Midnight Ferry Eatery": Typhoon Noodles
Midnight. A tempest rages, sweeping across the city. Fierce winds tear at street corners, plunging the closed-for-business streets into darkness. Only the red lantern at the end of a narrow alley in the old district burns steadfastly through the storm – the "Midnight Ferry Eatery". The wooden door is violently flung open, and a blast of frigid, rain-soaked wind rushes in. A peculiar guest, clad in a transparent raincoat and surrounded by miniature whirlwinds, enters. It is the "Wind God," a yokai who commands the gales. He lowers his head, his expression a mix of regret and exhaustion, and choked out to Shopkeeper Lu, "I lost control of my emotions tonight and stirred up too much wind and rain in the human world, leaving countless people displaced... I'm truly a monster who brings disaster." At that moment, a young engineer, trapped by the storm and unable to go home, shivers in a corner. Shopkeeper Lu smiles gently and turns towards the kitchen. Soon, two steaming bowls of "Classic Canned Typhoon Noodles" are served. Within the rich, tomato-and-mackerel broth, chewy hand-cut noodles bob, topped with golden scattered egg ribbons and bok choy, releasing the familiar savory and sweet-and-sour aroma that Taiwanese people know so well. The engineer cups the bowl and takes a large gulp of the soup, moved to say, "When I was little, if a typhoon caused a power outage, my mom would make this canned noodle soup. We'd eat by candlelight as a family, and no matter how fierce the storm outside, we wouldn't feel scared." The Wind God pauses, then sips the hot broth. The scalding, sweet-and-sour liquid seeps into his being, instantly calming the tempest within his heart and soothing the pain of self-reproach.

The Living World's Inflation Scares Away the Red-Clad Ghost・Cont.: Point Card Failure
This red-clad ghost had quite a reputation outside; everyone said she was a clingy vengeful spirit. In reality, her only obsession after years of being dead was sneaking into this convenience store at midnight to eat tea eggs. The underworld was full of ghost cakes and pastries, but none could replicate the savory flavor of these braised eggs. Tucked away in her red-clad pocket was a translucent point card, just two stamps away from a free tea egg. Her crimson skirt always hovered an inch above the ground, emitting a faint, withered osmanthus scent when she moved. Despite her fearsome appearance, she was actually a rule-abiding, money-saving ghost. This time, upon hearing that the tea eggs had increased in price again, she was so furious her hair stood on end. After painstakingly exchanging ghost currency for earthly change, it turned into wisps of smoke upon touch. She specifically returned to confront the owner. Deep in the night, the owner was hunched over his accounts in the back. A chilling wind suddenly swept into the store, and the light bulbs began to flicker wildly. Ah Jie quickly ducked behind the snack shelves. The ghost floated before the owner, striking a fearsome pose and channeling her ghostly energy to scare him. However, the spectral wind blew down a stack of point stickers. She instantly forgot her threat and rushed to pick them up, but her hands passed right through the paper. Frantically, she floated back and forth. Finally regaining a stern expression, she lowered her voice, "Owner, do you know--" Her words went completely off-topic. Filled with grievance and anger, she said, "I've been buying tea eggs here every year! They've gone from ten to now, and my point card is still two stamps short!" She gathered all her ghostly energy to flip the ledger as a demonstration, but her translucent hand passed straight through the paper, unable to even create a crease. She let out a ghostly wail with all her might, but the freezer's motor roared to life, perfectly drowning out her voice. The owner sighed deeply and spread out his ledger. "Inventory, rent, electricity – everything's gone up.

Hellish Delivery on a Typhoon Day
Typhoon 'Qiangwang' made a strong landfall in Taiwan, causing Tainan to suspend work and school. Outside, fierce winds and torrential rain raged, branches flew wildly, and not a soul could be seen on the streets. Xiao Jie was alone in his rented room, listening to the 'whoosh' of the wind outside, his stomach growling with hunger. He opened the delivery app with a 'what if' attitude, and to his surprise, a Salted Crispy Chicken stall was still open! He excitedly placed an order and wrote in the remarks: 'Thank you for your hard work on this typhoon day! Please leave it at the door, and I'll pick it up myself.' In less than twenty minutes, a 'knock knock knock' echoed from his doorstep. Xiao Jie was overjoyed and quickly opened the door a crack. He saw a delivery person in a raincoat standing outside, drenched from head to toe, dripping water, their face hidden low. The strangest thing was, there were no puddles around their feet, and… no footprints either. The delivery person slowly raised their head, revealing a pale, bloodless face, their voice dry as if from the depths of the earth: 'Sir… your salted crispy chicken has arrived… The wind and rain were so strong on this typhoon day… it was so hard for me to get here…' Xiao Jie gasped, instantly realizing – this was no living person, but a vengeful spirit wandering out on a typhoon day! Just as Xiao Jie's heart was about to leap out of his chest and he was preparing to scream and run, the female ghost slowly added: '...Also, the city government clearly announced a typhoon holiday today, and delivery platforms are universally banned from dispatching orders. I was a delivery driver in life, and even in death, I'm being forcefully dragged out by the platform's algorithm to take orders across realms… What kind of sweatshop hell is this?!'

The Stink at Home
Personal Experience It happened not long after my boyfriend's uncle passed away. My boyfriend's uncle was involved with drugs. The day he passed, I was coincidentally watching my phone in the living room. Suddenly, there were rapid knocks on the door, 'bang bang bang'. A stranger suddenly said he was looking for my boyfriend's dad. Because the person was in a hurry, I immediately ran to find my boyfriend's dad. Then the person said something to my boyfriend's dad (I was a bit far away then, and he spoke so fast I didn't catch it clearly). Then his dad rushed out. When he came back, he told me my boyfriend's uncle had died from an overdose. Normally, funerals have things like the first seven days of mourning, but... My uncle 'revived' about the third day at the funeral home. Coincidentally, it was my day off when he 'revived', so I went with my boyfriend to see his uncle off. While the monk was chanting, my boyfriend had worked late the night before, so he kept dozing off. Then I heard a male voice repeatedly calling my boyfriend's name. I looked towards the coffin. I could see a ball of fire moving back and forth next to his son. Later, when we went to see him for the last time, my boyfriend and his brother went together. When they came back, they told me not to look. They said his appearance was terrible. When he 'revived', there was a very foul smell. My boyfriend and his brothers all smelled it. Then, the evening after everything was done, we smelled the same odor from when he 'revived' that day. The smell lasted for about 3 or 4 days before it finally disappeared. Later, my boyfriend's sister told me (she has the 'third eye' or psychic abilities). She said the reason for the smell in the house for those few days was because the uncle had returned.

Xindian Bitan - Happy Amusement Park
Nestled amidst the verdant mountains of the 1970s, the Happy Amusement Park, situated atop Bitan Mountain in Xindian District, New Taipei City, was once a joyful paradise for the childhoods of countless old Taipei residents. Built along the mountainside, the park boasted then-rare attractions like a cable car, a Ferris wheel, and various rides. It was bustling with crowds and vibrant energy every weekend. However, due to changing times and poor management, the park abruptly closed in the late 1980s, its brilliant lights instantly extinguished. Since then, its former glory has been swallowed by weeds. The rusted Ferris wheel creaks eerily in the wind, quietly ushering in the chilling prelude to 'Taiwan's most haunted ruin.' Folklore suggests that this mountainside was once the site of the 'Happy Coal Mine,' which saw heavy casualties during the Japanese colonial era. The lingering resentment from numerous mining accidents is said to have reawakened with the park's abandonment. The most famous urban legend tells of young explorers who venture there late at night, only to witness the cable car, long de-energized and with snapped cables, slowly moving through the dark woods in the pitch-black wilderness. Even more bizarrely, it's rumored that some daredevils who took photos under the abandoned Ferris wheel were horrified to find, upon developing their pictures at home, a pale, vacant giant face plastered to the window of an empty cabin. Though this abandoned mountainside, sealed for nearly forty years, has since undergone gradual development and reconstruction, the spectral image of the derelict amusement park, hidden within the Bitan mist and ancient trees, remains to this day one of Northern Taiwan's most spine-chilling forbidden zones.

Taichung Dakeng - Ya Gu Garden
In the 1990s, on television screens, accompanied by the laughter and shouts from Hu Gua's signature show 'Hundred Battles', Ya Gu Garden in Taichung's Dakeng was once the most glamorous European-style amusement park in all of Taiwan. It once featured magnificent water shows, vibrant flower seas, and crowds of visitors shoulder-to-shoulder. In its prime, its annual revenue reached over 100 million yuan, truly a local tourism legend. However, after the devastating impact of the 921 earthquake on central Taiwan, coupled with subsequent failed business transformations, Ya Gu Garden officially closed its doors in 2008. Since then, prosperity has faded. European-style statues have gradually become mottled and weathered by wind and rain, and the exquisite landscaping has devolved into overgrown wilderness. This once joyful paradise, after being abandoned for over a decade, was ironically rated the 8th 'Most Terrifying Ruin in the World' by the British 'The Metro' newspaper years ago due to its eerie, bizarre, and time-capsule-like atmosphere, once again drawing national attention. Rumors abound that those who sneak into the ruins at midnight often see blurry figures moving by the abandoned water fountain, or even faintly hear the cheers and screams from the variety show sets of yesteryear in the power-cut amusement park area, as if souls lingering on past glories are still unwilling to depart. Today, this mysterious ruin has been transformed by racing enthusiasts into Taiwan's first legal racing test track, with the roar of engines finally breaking the long-standing silence. This park, oscillating between ruin and rebirth, remains one of Taichung Dakeng's most intriguing legends to this day.

Midnight Diner - Mom's Egg Fried Rice
At midnight, at the end of a narrow alley in the old city, a red lantern slowly lights up, illuminating five ink characters on the wooden curtain – 'Midnight Diner'. The owner, Shopkeeper Lu, appears ordinary but is actually an ink dragon who has cultivated for a thousand years. This shop only opens at midnight, helping those burdened with sorrow and welcoming spirits drawn by the aroma. This night, a girl named A'ning, who had been working hard alone, walked into the shop. She had just finished sorting through her mother's old belongings, her mind filled with memories of the past. Glancing up, she saw a local Earth God floating nearby and a Will-o'-the-Wisp Cat with blue flames flickering on its tail. Thinking the sorrow was too overwhelming, causing hallucinations, she trembled slightly and whispered, "I miss my mom so much... My heart feels so heavy, I can't eat anything." Shopkeeper Lu smiled gently and turned into the kitchen. Before long, a plate of fragrant tomato and egg fried rice was served. The bright red tomatoes exuded a sweet and sour juice, and golden scrambled egg fragments were scattered among the distinct grains of white rice – it was the taste her mother made most often. A'ning scooped up a bite and put it in her mouth. The familiar flavor spread, and warmth slowly enveloped her empty heart. As she chewed, the longing she had suppressed for so long finally came down with her tears. The Earth God handed her a tissue and slowly advised, "If you can taste the flavor of remembrance, the person in your heart has not truly left." The Will-o'-the-Wisp Cat rubbed against her ankle, purring softly.

Inflation in the Living World Scares Off the Red-Clad Ghost
A-Jie started his night shift at a convenience store in the mountains. The senior colleague handing over warned him with a grave expression: "If you see a woman in red enter at 3 AM without making a sound, don't look at her face, don't talk much, and do as she says!" At 3 AM, the store's entrance sensor chimed eerily: "Ding dong~ Welcome~". Biting cold air flooded the store. A-Jie looked up. A ghost in a red dress floated to the counter, her pale face obscured by messy hair. The ghost's voice trembled with cold: "I want a tea egg. The one that's been in the pot the longest, the one that's black and shiny." A-Jie's hands and feet went numb with fear. He closed his eyes and fumbled for a long time, finally picking out a jet-black tea egg. With trembling hands, he bagged it and placed it on the counter. "How much?" the ghost asked, extending a withered hand. "The tea egg... is 13 kuai." The ghost pulled out a 50 million yuan banknote of hell money, slapped it on the counter with a 'pa', and turned to float away. A-Jie glanced at the hell money, and his fear of the ghost evaporated on the spot. His mind was filled only with the pressure of inventory. He shouted urgently: "Miss, wait! How am I supposed to give you change for this 50 million yuan? The store manager said employees have to cover any discrepancies in the accounts. I don't want to lose my salary over one egg!" The ghost abruptly turned her head. Her face was almost transparently white, filled with disbelief. "What? It's 13 kuai now? It was only 10 kuai last time I was here! Inflation in the living world is even fiercer than in the underworld!" She snatched back the hell money, threw the tea egg back into the pot, and muttered as she floated out: "Too much of a rip-off, I'm not buying! You get discounts with hell money when you buy eggs in the underworld, but there are no deals in the living world!" A-Jie breathed a sigh of relief as he watched her leave, thinking to himself: Luckily, I didn't accept the hell money. Otherwise, during inventory tomorrow, I'd be in a worse state than encountering a ghost.

Every night at midnight, the cat stands precisely in the corner of the living room. Ajie has recently felt that his cat has been acting strangely. Every night at midnight, the cat stands precisely in the corner of the living room, staring intently at the blank white wall, its pupils dilated to the extreme, occasionally letting out a low, warning growl. At first, Ajie thought it was a gecko or an insect and didn't pay much attention. Until one night, the cat was again standing in the corner, meowing at the empty air. Ajie felt a bit annoyed, walked over, squatted down, and petted the cat's head, saying, "What are you looking at? There's nothing there..." The cat ignored him, its fur still on end, eyes fixed on that corner without blinking. Ajie followed the cat's gaze. The wall was blank, with only his own shadow cast upon it. Just as he was about to get up, the cat suddenly flinched, its fur bristling, and let out a scream of extreme terror! Startled, Ajie quickly looked at the wall – In the shadow reflected on the wall, next to his own head, was a pair of pitch-black hands that had somehow begun to slowly reach out from behind towards his neck. And behind Ajie, there was clearly no one.

🥶
On a rainy night, Xiao Chen was driving alone on a winding mountain road. Suddenly, the navigation voice emitted a harsh static, followed by a cold prompt: "Please make an immediate U-turn 50 meters ahead." Xiao Chen was puzzled. The road ahead was smooth and wide, with no obstacles. Was the navigation broken? He ignored it and continued to accelerate. "Please make an immediate U-turn." The navigation's voice began to sound urgent, even with a hoarse tremor. Xiao Chen felt a chill down his spine and simply turned off the navigation. The car instantly fell into silence, with only the "creak-creak" of the wipers against the windshield. Just then, a bright headlight flashed in the rearview mirror. Xiao Chen looked closely and saw a black car that had appeared behind him at some point, tailgating him closely and incessantly flashing its high beams and honking. "What the hell!" Xiao Chen, blinded by the lights, was furious and floored the accelerator. But the car behind kept pace, relentlessly flashing its high beams. Xiao Chen couldn't take it anymore. He suddenly braked hard at an intersection during a red light, unbuckled his seatbelt, and prepared to get out and confront the driver. The car behind also stopped. The driver hastily rolled down his window, his face pale, and shouted at Xiao Chen: "Don't get out! Lock your doors! Every time I flashed my high beams at your car roof just now... a head was popping over your back seat onto your shoulder!" Xiao Chen froze in place. The next second, he felt a cold breath on the back of his neck.
