Northeast Monsoon Again Next Week! 'Nepartak' to become a moderate typhoon tonight/tomorrow morning, 'affecting Taiwan next Frid

Typhoon 'Nepartak's' outer circulation is expected to affect Taiwan next Friday (23rd)! According to the Central Weather Administration's forecast, the weather will be good nationwide from tomorrow until next Tuesday, but a small wave of northeast monsoon will strengthen next Wednesday. The weak typhoon 'Nepartak' is expected to become a moderate typhoon as early as tonight to tomorrow, and preliminary predictions suggest its outer circulation will affect Taiwan's weather next Friday. CWA forecaster Tseng Chao-cheng stated that moisture is currently approaching Taiwan from the east, and localized heavy rain is expected in Keelung's northern coast, eastern Taiwan, and the Hengchun Peninsula from tonight to early tomorrow morning. However, from tomorrow afternoon onwards, the weather will return to mostly cloudy to sunny, with scattered brief showers in southern mountainous areas in the afternoon, continuing until next Tuesday (20th). Tseng Chao-cheng said that from next Wednesday to Thursday (21st-22nd), due to the strengthening northeast monsoon, northern Taiwan (north of Hsinchu) and northeastern Taiwan will experience localized brief showers, while eastern Taiwan, southeastern Taiwan, and the Hengchun Peninsula will have scattered brief showers. Southern mountainous areas will also see scattered brief showers in the afternoon. He mentioned that this northeast monsoon is not strong, with daytime temperatures in northern Taiwan and Yilan around 26-28°C and lows around 23-25°C, while temperatures in other areas will not change significantly. 'Nepartak's' intensity is already at the upper limit for a weak typhoon and could strengthen into a moderate typhoon as early as tonight to tomorrow, becoming a strong typhoon within three days,' Tseng Chao-cheng said. He added that Nepartak will steadily move towards the sea south of the Ryukyu Islands before next Wednesday, and will begin to turn north when it reaches the waters east of Taiwan from next Thursday to Saturday, as the Pacific high-pressure system weakens.

Tseng Chao-cheng pointed out that the extent of Typhoon Khanun's northward turn is still uncertain and will become clearer next week. The angle and timing of the northward turn are closely related to the degree of its impact on Taiwan. However, it is currently certain that Taiwan will be affected by the typhoon's outer circulation next Friday (23rd), with scattered showers in the north and northeast, and localized brief showers in the east and southeast. Localized brief showers may occur in mountainous areas in the afternoon. The Central Weather Administration (CWA) also released its 'Monthly Long-term Weather Outlook' for the next two weeks today. The forecast model predicts that during the first week (October 17th - October 23rd), most areas will be partly cloudy to sunny, with isolated brief showers in mountainous areas in the afternoon. From the end of the first week to the second week (October 24th - October 30th), during the period influenced by the northeasterly monsoon, temperatures in northern and eastern Taiwan will drop, with localized brief showers. Additionally, there is a chance of the typhoon's outer circulation affecting Taiwan during the first weekend and the beginning of the second week, increasing the probability of rainfall across the island. The CWA also noted that there are still signals for tropical disturbance development in the northwestern Pacific recently, but the forecast uncertainty is high. Please stay tuned to the latest forecast information released by the CWA.

Seeing news about another typhoon forming really makes me worry about your safety. Please be sure to prepare for the typhoon in advance, and pay close attention to weather changes when you go out next week. Don't get caught in the rain and catch a cold. Have you prepared enough supplies?
