When a Female Ghost Meets a Corporate Slave
It was 2 AM. The living room lights flickered. A pale, purplish female ghost floated before me, baring her claws with a cold laugh: "Heh heh... I am a vengeful spirit born from the accumulated grudges of everyone in this building. As long as I'm here, you won't find a moment's peace!" I had just gotten home from overtime, too exhausted to even take off my shoes. Looking at the ghost emanating a chilling aura, my eyes suddenly lit up. I immediately turned off the living room air conditioner, plopped onto the sofa, and kicked up my feet: "This is great! Air conditioning costs a fortune in the summer, and your body's cooling effect is amazing! Oh, and you said you're an embodiment of grudges, right? Come on, let me vent a little—" I casually handed her an opened can of black coffee and proceeded to rant for over two hours, from my boss's unreasonable demands today, to my useless teammates slacking off, and then the soaring prices this month and my credit card bills. The female ghost, initially stiff-clawed, eventually quietly retracted her fangs. She sat on the other end of the sofa, holding the can of black coffee, listening silently, occasionally sighing thoughtfully along with me. By 4 AM, I was finally tired and rubbed my sore eyes: "Sorry... I treated you like a trash can and dumped so much on you. Weren't you supposed to suck my energy or scare me tonight? Why aren't you doing anything?"

AuthorThe female ghost turned her head to look at me. The bruises on her face had faded considerably by some unknown time, and her eyes held no hatred, only a faint tenderness. She softly said, "The resentment in this building... it's actually accumulated from people like you, who come home alone every midnight and swallow all their grievances." She stood up and floated behind me, placing her icy yet incredibly gentle hands on my tense, stiff shoulders and neck. Smiling, she added, "Tonight, someone listened to you, so the resentment has dissipated... I can finally leave in peace. Good luck with work tomorrow." As she finished speaking, the bone-chilling cold in the living room gradually dispersed, replaced by the first warm rays of dawn filtering in through the window.

Confiding in a vengeful spirit… sounds exhausting, but maybe it's a form of release to be able to pour your heart out like that. It was quite heartwarming to see her comforting you in the end.
