I have a university recommendation exam...

I'm applying for a department that's a test of physical strength. Does applying from a correspondence high school seem like too much of a stretch? Do you think they'll ask about my correspondence high school during the interview, or whether I can attend regularly...?

First Step...

Nice to meet you. I'm someone who has experienced depression. It doesn't have to be for a reason like 'for the sake of XX' or 'I have to do ~' Just picking up a stone lying on the roadside because 'why not' is enough. That's what a trigger is like. If you don't need it, you can just toss it away. And it might be a beautiful stone if you polish it. Don't put too much pressure on yourself... It'll work out somehow.

I went to a free school!

I managed to wake up at 7:30 yesterday, so I thought, "Why not?" and went to a place like a free school. The teachers welcomed me kindly, and we chatted leisurely while I drew. Compared to my impression of school being all about studies and relationships, it felt a bit more relaxed. I didn't study at all, but my mom said, "Learning is important at school, but so is talking and having fun," and "I wasn't that serious either." So, I want to cherish the fact that I could talk to people yesterday. I want to take it at my own pace as much as possible.

To Parents, Teachers, and Friends

Don't force me to go to school. Instead, be someone I can lean on. Do you even realize how much those careless words impact my heart? Of course, I understand that it's easier later on if I go, and I can fit in with others. So I completely get the feelings of those who keep saying it's better to go. However, it's also a fact that some people lose motivation due to studies or can't get along with others. Being there for people like that is more comforting than being forced. It can even make them want to come. With just that little bit of consideration. (True story) That said, if you ask whether diligently going to school is a disadvantage, it's not. Of course, going is the best option. But taking a break is also a best option. What I want to say is, please live a life that suits you. That is the best course of action for you. There are those who go diligently, and there are those who don't want to. This world exists with these two side by side. So please, let these two coexist and support each other. Sorry for the long post.

I had a similar period

I had a period of not attending school from 4th grade, but thanks to my teacher, I was able to return. In 6th grade, I was about to stop going to school again, but we managed to resolve it, and I safely graduated elementary school. However, in middle school, bullying pushed me to my mental limit, and I spent my time attending school only in the counseling room. I hope those who have gone through similar times can relate.

Originally a School Refuser (Currently in Social Rehabilitation Training)

Due to a double whammy of my mild developmental (learning) disability and codependency & a dysfunctional family rife with domestic violence, my mental health deteriorated, and I was a shut-in from 2nd grade until I was 18. Now I'm attending a workplace for social rehabilitation training. There are various types of developmental disabilities... For me, it's mainly struggling to keep up with studies and getting exhausted from trying too hard to fit in with others (over-adaptation). Even when I got home exhausted, I had to entertain my abused siblings who were always getting picked on, or else they'd take it out on me (yelling, threatening me with a knife). I didn't even have my own room back then, so I had no place to rest and my spirit was broken. Recently, my home environment has become more stable, so I've decided to become independent and move out. I'm worried if anyone will hire me with only a middle school education, no qualifications, and a genetic chronic illness, but I plan to take it slow and steady, at my own pace. Even if people call me bottom-tier, it's my life. I have to live my own life without comparing it to others'. Well, if I'm alive, things will probably work out somehow.

I've been able to go little by little

I stopped going to school in middle school due to interpersonal issues. I'm not going that often in high school either, but there are days I can go more and days I can go less. It's been a mix, but I've realized again that doing things at my own pace is the best approach.

I woke up early today!

I resisted the urge to use my phone late at night and managed to wake up at 6:30 AM today! My commute to free school is a bit far, so I usually drive, but unfortunately, today is one of those days my mom is really busy. I decided it's better to relax at home than push myself and risk getting mentally exhausted. When I decide to take a day off, I'm going to enjoy it by doing things I love!
