Does soap not melt when put in a microwave?

If you put soap in the microwave and run it, it doesn't melt but puffs up into a large, white cloud shape. To explain why soap expands, soap contains tiny amounts of moisture and air. The heat from the microwave instantly boils this moisture, causing it to evaporate. As a result, the melting soap expands like a sponge, trapping air pockets.

The Mysteries of Life

Even tiny nematodes, just 1mm long, that live by eating bacteria in the soil, are said to avoid those bacteria by smell if they get a stomach ache from eating them. Information about dangerous food sources is passed down to their offspring, so their children also avoid those bacteria. Fruit flies are said to get drunk on substances similar to alcohol when they experience heartbreak. Plants also communicate through chemical reactions; they've been communicating with each other via chemical signals. They respond differently to creatures that threaten their survival by eating their roots versus those that don't pose a significant threat and can be appeased by sacrificing some leaves. Caffeine and nicotine are actually among the chemical compounds found in plants.

Cosmic Horror

Cosmic Horror is a genre that deals with the fear derived from immense beings and cosmic truths that humans cannot comprehend or control. Unlike typical horror, it emphasizes the dread of the unknown and human powerlessness over defeating monsters. Key themes include beings far older and more powerful than humans, extraterrestrial life, ancient gods, and forbidden knowledge. H.P. Lovecraft is a representative author, and his Cthulhu Mythos is the quintessential setting for cosmic horror.

Miscellaneous knowledge gathered for buying a used car in a few months.

I'm planning to buy a used car for commuting. While researching, I found that Encar is ranked 1st, K Car is 2nd, KB ChaChaCha has a lot of listings, and HeyDealer is heavily advertised with its new premium used car system. However, on Karrot Market (Danggeun Market), used car information is presented with easily viewable insurance history, and AI provides simple summaries. It seems even more helpful to capture this information and ask AI tools like Gemini. I'm currently browsing on Karrot Market and asking questions to Gemini and other AI. For commuting, a compact car (경차) is best, with a fuel cost subsidy of 400,000 KRW per year based on gasoline. However, the downside is that parts are weaker than larger cars, leading to oil leaks and requiring diligent maintenance. The rear seats are also not great. If you don't need to carry passengers, it's fine. Although I won't receive compact car benefits like 50% off highway tolls, 50% off public parking, and the basic 400,000 KRW annual fuel discount for gasoline, people choose small cars for commuting because of their excellent fuel efficiency and a better appearance than compact cars. Used prices are also not as high as for larger vehicles.

[Random Trivia Drop]

Dropping some random trivia. Brought you something most people probably don't know this time. ⬇️ 1. The plastic lid of a Pringles can is perfectly sized to fit a standard paper cup. 🥛 2. The first song sung by a machine was called 'Daisy Bell', and it was sung way back in 1961. 🎵 (The computer that sang it at the time was an IBM 7094) 3. The placement of items in a supermarket is very strategically planned. For example, essential groceries like milk and eggs are placed at the very back of the store to encourage customers to buy other items while on their way to get them. 🏢 4. The sound of a car door closing is actually designed to be a dull thud to give a luxurious feel. 🚗 5. The world's shortest flight is 53 seconds long, connecting two small islands in Scotland's Orkney Islands. ✈️ (This flight is used as actual transportation, not just for tourism)

Busan's Bridge That Lifts One Side Entirely Once a Day

Background of Yeongdo Bridge Construction: Completed in 1934, Yeongdo Bridge connects downtown Busan with Yeongdo Island. It was built to solve complex issues such as accommodating tall ships navigating Busan Port, the problem of trams unable to climb steep inclines, and the limitations of ferry transport. Adoption of Bascule Bridge Mechanism: Instead of building the bridge high from the start, creating steep road inclines, it was designed to remain low normally. When ships approach, one section of the bridge on the land side (31m long, 590t weight) is lifted to 75 degrees in 2 minutes using a 'Type 1' bascule mechanism. Suspension and Resumption of Lifting: Lifting was suspended in 1966 due to increased traffic, aging machinery, and the installation of water pipes. However, after overcoming the threat of demolition, it was completely dismantled and rebuilt, and its lifting function was revived and put back into operation in April 2013, after 47 years.

Secret Phone Use Tips (Is this okay to post?)

Convenient for nighttime use 1. Use wireless earphones Wired earphones are more likely to get caught. Also, use only one side. That way, you can still hear your parents. 2. Lower the brightness Otherwise, the light from your room will leak out the door and you'll get caught. If you're really worried, mess up your clothes or something to block the light (you'll get scolded for not tidying up). Of course, using your phone secretly isn't good. It's best not to do it at all, but if you really want to, set a time and do it a little at a time.

Why You Get Addicted to Shorts

Instant Gratification: Your brain feels pleasure as enjoyable videos appear within seconds. Short Format: You can watch one without feeling burdened and immediately move to the next. Infinite Scroll: Even when a video ends, new ones keep getting recommended, making it easy to lose track of when to stop. Personalized Recommendations: It continuously shows content similar to what you've watched for a long time. Novel Stimulation: The unknown of what's coming in the next video sparks curiosity. Habituation: If the act of watching Shorts repeatedly during boredom or short breaks becomes a habit. This is especially why things like 'I'll just watch one' → keep scrolling → suddenly it's been an hour, happen.
