It's said to be one of the traditional medicinal herbs good for bone health and coughs, but some people argue that its effects aren't scientifically proven and are based on folk remedies. It has beautiful white flowers in spring and red berries in fall, but you're not supposed to eat the raw berries. I'm not particularly interested in its medicinal uses; I just like the tree because its bright red berries are pretty.

Good good

While we commonly call them oak trees, trees that bear acorns are collectively referred to as trees in the Fagaceae family. Among them, there are 6 representative oak species in Korea: Shingal oak, Deokgal oak, Sangsu oak, Galcham oak, Julcham oak, and Gulcham oak. Each tree has different shapes for its leaves and acorns, as well as the appearance of its acorn shells. The tree in the photo appears to be a Shingal oak among them.

I thought they bloomed in spring, but they're flowering at this time too. I looked it up, and apparently, they can have a second bloom depending on the surrounding environment. Generally, if they bloom in May and have double petals, they're called Kerria japonica, and if not, they're called Kerria.

These are the succulent pots my mom grows in the countryside. I'm not sure if it's because my place doesn't have good ventilation or if I'm watering them too much... but all the succulents I bring home from my parents' house end up dying ㅠ

We went to an outdoor cafe, and my son found a tree frog. Its belly was quite round, and when I looked it up, I found out they can inflate their bellies when they feel threatened. Of course, we released the tree frog back shortly after. It was a bakery cafe in the countryside, and we had a fun day catching various grasshoppers and stuff. Hope everyone has a great Chuseok~

These are common grass family plants seen in autumn. They look similar, often spotted along roadsides, but you can distinguish them by their seed heads. Silver grass with multiple drooping strands, fountain grass standing tall like a big foxtail, bristlegrass that looks like many small grains clustered together, and Japanese silver grass resembling a brown dog's tail.. I feel autumn has drawn even closer.

This is the Zinnia, a flower that blooms for a long time from summer to fall. It's a plant native to Mexico, originally with purple flowers, but now through cultivation, there are Zinnia flowers in various colors. You can often see them in flowerbeds as ornamental plants~ By the way, there's also a tree called 'Baek-il-hong' (which translates to '100-day red' but refers to the Lagerstroemia indica, commonly known as Crape Myrtle in English). This Zinnia and the Crape Myrtle are completely unrelated plants~
