Even if you don't know the details, it's a manga whose name you've definitely heard of. The author, Naoko Takeuchi, married Yoshihiro Togashi, famous for Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter, making them the wealthiest manga artist couple in the world. The manga only shows the storyline, so if you felt frustrated by the slow pace of the old anime, let's check out the original manga. There are two anime adaptations: the old one aired from 1992 and the new one from 2014. The old one has great transformation scenes, decent art style, and many fanservice moments not in the manga. However, it doesn't strictly follow the storyline, so it's not recommended for those who dislike side stories. The new anime followed the storyline, but its transformation scenes and art style were significantly inferior to the old one. It was heavily criticized for failing to capture the delicate emotional nuances of the main characters. However, the music is great. That's because it was handled by the Emperor of Revo, Sahō and Ringhō. (You'll know if you watch Attack on Titan ^^) It's one of the classic masterpieces.

A comedy manga depicting the bizarre daily lives of 'Arale', an eccentric robot girl with glasses created by the genius scientist Dr. Slump, and her neighbors in Penguin Village. Its original sense of humor and imaginative world blend together to deliver refreshing and delightful laughter with every episode. It's a legendary gag manga where you can fully enjoy the unparalleled directing and fairytale-like sensibility of Akira Toriyama, the author of <Dragon Ball>.

Genre: Yokai, Drama Synopsis: After enrolling in high school, the protagonist, Ashiya Hanae, experiences worsening physical condition due to yokai possession. To resolve yokai-related issues, he contacts the 'Yokai Exorcism' service advertised on a poster and meets Abe no Haruitsuki, the owner of Mononokean. To repay the 1 million yen exorcism fee he received from Abe no, Hanae starts working at Mononokean as Abe no's assistant. There's also an anime adaptation, and the manga is completed in 18 volumes. The Mojya Mojya appearing there is so cute.

This is the SF adventure manga [Astra Lost in Space] by author Kentaro Shinohara. Serialized from 2016 to 2017, it concluded with a total of 5 volumes. In 2063, when space travel becomes possible, nine students from Keats High School embark on a planetary camping trip. However, immediately upon arriving at the planet, they are sucked into a shining sphere and find themselves 5012 light-years away in space. Fortunately, they manage to board a derelict spaceship nearby, the 'Astra,' saving their lives. The main story follows their journey back home, crossing five planets. This work, which won the Japan Cartoon Award in 2019, is famous for its intricate plot twists and a clean ending. While the final revelation feels like it rushes towards the end with dialogue-heavy scenes, it's an enjoyable read overall.

Everyone probably knows this one since it's so famous! It's Kamisama Kiss. Synopsis: A mysterious guy appears before Nanami Momozono, a high school girl whose dad ran off and who lost her home. Believing the guy's words, "I'll give you my house," she goes to his place, only to find a rundown, abandoned shrine! Turns out, the mysterious guy was actually the land god Mikage! By getting the house (=shrine), Nanami has to take over the land god's duties?! The secret lessons from the gods START!! The anime and OST were good, and it was well-received for how well it turned out, but it was disappointing how much content was cut. The OVA also cut a lot of content, which only added to people's confusion lol. It's one of those works that only felt truly satisfying after reading the manga.

The original title is 'His and Her Circumstances,' often shortened to Kare Kano. Miyazawa Yukino, the protagonist, is an extraordinary high school girl who is beautiful, intelligent, and well-behaved in every aspect. She was incredibly popular at school, but she had a rival. That rival was the male protagonist, Arima Soichiro. Yukino, who wanted to announce her presence to everyone by taking first place in the high school entrance exams, put in tremendous effort to surpass Arima after he snatched that top spot from her. That's right. She was actually a brilliant actress, meticulously performing everything with the sole desire of being praised. However, things don't always go smoothly. Yukino's true self is exposed to Arima, and to hide that fact from everyone, she becomes Arima's lackey... Arima Soichiro only exists in manga. In Korea... perhaps Cha Eun-woo is the closest figure we have. Isn't Arima, who doesn't cheat, truly a god?

This story follows the children after the original Fruits Basket. You can probably tell who's whose kid just by looking at their faces. It's not just about the children; it also features love stories of characters whose relationships were ambiguous after the main story, so if you enjoyed the original, you'll likely enjoy this too. Unlike the original, no one transforms into one of the zodiac animals, but through conversations between Mutsuki Soma and Hajime Soma, the curse of the zodiac on the parent generation is lightly touched upon. For reference, the story flows similarly to the main series, but the part about who receives healing is different. Personally, I was very satisfied with this work because the characters who suffered in the original Fruits Basket all found happiness in this side story. Well... after all that suffering, they deserve to be happy. Isn't the heroine Mito Sawa's image too similar to Tohru Honda's? Do the Soma family members have a type for girls like that? Anyway, you might mistake it, but the cover of the first volume is Mito Sawa, not Tohru Honda.

Kyo is on the back cover of volume 2. As the true main protagonist, he wouldn't be absent. Tohru Honda, the protagonist, loses her father at a young age and her mother in high school. With nowhere to go, Tohru is sent to live with a relative, but because their house is undergoing expansion work, she is forced out and knowing her friends' situations, she ends up living in a tent in the mountains. While camping in the mountains, Tohru is discovered by her classmate, Yuki Soma. Pitying her situation, Shigure Soma invites her to live with them. Then one day, a man breaks through the ceiling of their house. He provokes Yuki Soma, and Tohru, rushing to stop him, slips and ends up hugging him. Suddenly, he transforms into a cat... The 2001 anime is a masterpiece and well worth watching. The remake version came out in 2019 and covers the entire story up to the manga's conclusion. Kyo is the best!

In 1969, a mysterious dictator known as 'Friend' appears, aiming to destroy the Earth according to the contents of a 'Book of Prophecies' created by childhood friends as a game. This is an SF mystery suspense depicting the desperate struggle of Kenji and his friends to save the world by reviving past memories amidst the global disaster and terror he causes.

This is the manga [The Town Where Only I Am Not There] by Kei Sanbe. Serialized from 2012 to 2016, the work concluded with a total of 9 volumes. The protagonist, Satoru, has a power called 'Revival' that allows him to go back in time. When his mother is murdered by a mysterious assailant and he is framed for the crime, he strongly wishes for Revival. He then travels back to his elementary school days 18 years prior, and the events of the story begin. This work is famous for its perfect narrative structure and has been adapted into a live-action movie and a Netflix drama.
