Before Losing Fat, Understand Your GI Value

Before you start dieting and losing fat, it's crucial to understand GI (Glycemic Index). It represents how quickly food raises your blood sugar: High GI (over 70): Such as white rice, white bread, sweets. They digest very quickly, causing a rapid spike in blood sugar. Low GI (under 55): Such as brown rice, oats, sweet potatoes, vegetables. They digest slowly, leading to a gradual rise in blood sugar. Why is understanding GI essential for fat loss? Blocks Fat Accumulation: High GI foods trigger a large secretion of insulin. Insulin forcibly converts excess calories into stored fat. Conversely, low GI foods allow for a gentler insulin release, reducing fat storage. Escape False Hunger: High GI foods cause blood sugar to drop rapidly, tricking your brain into sending hunger signals that lead to binge eating. Low GI foods provide sustained satiety, helping control overall calorie intake. 3 Practical Principles for Fat Loss Dieters Low GI doesn't equal low calories: A calorie deficit is still the foundation of weight loss. Even low GI foods like nuts or avocados can lead to weight gain if overeaten. Cooking Method and Fiber Affect GI: The longer food is cooked or mashed, the higher its GI. Dietary fiber, protein, and fats slow down stomach emptying, converting high GI to low GI. Adjust Eating Order: Eating water-soluble fiber (vegetables) first, then protein (meat, eggs, beans), and finally carbohydrates (low GI staples) can effectively smooth out drastic post-meal blood sugar fluctuations. Attached is a simple comparison table of high and low GI foods. You can search for more classifications yourself if needed.

The charts you organized are still so clear and easy to understand, I've learned a lot from them. Especially the advice on adjusting meal order is very useful for those who want to stabilize their blood sugar. Do you usually follow these principles strictly to maintain your health?

This concept is super important. Most people focus on calorie intake, but truly understanding sugar control puts you ahead of 80% of people.

That's right, the order of eating is also important. I saw a doctor share that eating soup, vegetables, meat, and then rice in that order is appropriate.
