A-Kuan-Mian - 'Ham-Mian'

I've been repeating A-Kuan-Mian's 'Ham-Mian' lately~ My Taiwanese Hokkien isn't that fluent, but I can understand what he's singing in this song, and it really hit me. The moment the rhythm kicks in, it got me. The flow is so smooth, and the chorus line: 'I bravely fought, but kept missing success' is super catchy. That feeling of trying so hard but constantly missing out, it's so real🥹 This song was from the semi-finals of 'The Rappers 2'. It tells his story of his journey so far, so the emotions are packed in really tight. You'll get goosebumps listening to it towards the end. I want to learn to sing it, but I really need to practice my Taiwanese Hokkien properly, otherwise I'll trip over my tongue😆 A-Kuan-Mian put his own story into the song, starting from 'Let's write our story into a song, compose our beautiful dream'. The whole song is about that state of being trapped in a dream, unable to sleep, constantly running, constantly striving. The beat isn't too noisy, but the emotions keep building up. Towards the end, when he shouts 'youngster', you really get carried away! However, with my current Taiwanese Hokkien skills, it's hard to even pronounce fast songs properly, let alone sing them. But I'll add it to my practice list🤣
