Recommending Anime Masterpieces: 'Fate/stay night' & 'Fate-Unlimited Blade Works'
I'll talk at length, maybe in parts (I'll make separate posts for different works in the same genre). I'll try my best not to mention broadcast dates. Originally, it was an adult game (visual novel), but only a small portion featured adult scenes (like mana replenishment). It was produced by TYPE-MOON (shortened to TM) and the author Nasu Kinoko. There are many translated names, but they all include 'Fate/stay night'. Just for the initial Fate, there are two versions. I checked on Wiki, and the early one was produced by studio DEEN (2006). Later, ufotable took over to produce the major Fate works. I thought the DEEN version was also very good (they even made the Unlimited Blade Works movie), which made me mistakenly think it was an early ufotable work, but it wasn't. Later, ufotable took over to produce the prequel, 'Fate/Zero'. This tells the story of the Holy Grail War from the era of Emiya Shirou's father. If you're interested, you can start with Zero (but it's a bit heavier, as war tends to be). DEEN's version is watchable, and ufotable's versions are all watchable. The endings are slightly different. The game has three routes (Saber route, Rin route, Sakura route), and the anime also has three routes, so you'll keep watching the same plot, but the endings are different. I'll add details about Unlimited Blade Works in the comments section. It's considered Rin's route.

AuthorFate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] (can be abbreviated as UBW) This is probably my favorite route. You'll learn the identity of the red Archer, see him fight alone against an enemy many times stronger than himself without backing down, truly embodying the essence of a hero. You'll discover who red Archer really is as you watch. The story is slightly more lighthearted than Zero (since it's Rin's route). Excluding the Zero version, the most brutal among the contemporary routes in Fate are Rider and Caster. To replenish a large amount of magic, one used the land on the mountain, and the other used the school, sacrificing a lot of people's magic (though some were saved). Compared to Zero, this is just child's play... (playing house) I recommend being mentally prepared before you challenge yourself to watch it.

AuthorI'll add a few more points because there's too much content to fit into 500 characters. The picture is of the cool Archer from the UBW route. What I'm adding might not be directly related to UBW, but it's all pretty similar, so I'll talk about it together. The story is about heroic spirits being summoned as Servants, commanded by their Masters to fight together and win the Holy Grail War. There are a total of seven Servants and Masters, and in the end, the last Servant and Master remaining will receive the wish-granting power bestowed by the Holy Grail. So, when performing a summoning, you need to know whose catalyst you're using to have a higher chance of summoning the Servant you want. Also, you shouldn't easily reveal your True Name. Once your True Name is known, your opponent will know your weaknesses (or your signature moves). Honestly, if you set aside the magical energy replenishment aspect which is 18+, this is genuinely great and interesting. You could casually fight for over a decade without getting tired of it. If I had to say something, it would be 'The Heroic Spirit War is just too good!'
