10 Minutes Daily for Leg Strength and Balance: At-Home Exercises for Middle-Aged and Seniors
Many people think 'weak legs are just a part of aging,' but leg strength and balance directly impact the stability of your daily movements. You don't need special equipment; just a sturdy chair at home is enough. Spending about 10 minutes a day can gradually build up your leg strength. 🔷 This chair workout includes 5 exercises: 🔸 Seated Leg Raise: Primarily works the front of your thighs, helping you stand up more steadily from chairs or toilets. Do 10 reps per side, moving slowly without swinging your legs. 🔸 Chair Squat: Stand in front of the chair, push your hips back as if to sit, then stand up. Strengthens thighs and glutes. Beginners can lightly touch the chair seat. Do 10 reps. 🔸 Rear Leg Raise: Hold onto the chair back and slowly extend one leg backward to train your glutes and the back of your thighs. Do 10 reps per side. Don't lift too high. 🔸 Leg Curl: Holding the chair back, bend your lower leg backward to strengthen the back of your thighs and improve gait control. Do 10 reps per side, avoiding quick swings. 🔸 Heel Raise: Hold the chair firmly, slowly rise onto your tiptoes, then lower. Works your calves and ankles, maintaining balance. Can do 10 to 20 reps. The key to these seemingly simple 5 exercises is 'consistency' and 'correct form,' not doing a high volume. Remember to also pair this with a balanced diet, sufficient protein intake, and good sleep. ⚠️ Reminder: Exercise within your limits and always use a stable, non-slip chair for support. Don't hold your breath during the exercises, and don't push through pain. If you experience chest tightness, dizziness, significant shortness of breath, or severe pain, stop immediately and seek professional help. I'll do the 5th exercise after dinner. The rest... I'm too lazy 🤣

Taking the first step is a good start, and perseverance is key to building a solid foundation. Even if you only practice one thing, as long as you stick with it, it's an attitude of taking responsibility for yourself.
