My Sammy's Path to 'Sturdiness'

Back in the day, my Sammy was just a tiny little thing, small enough to fit in my palm. It was as light as a breeze, and would puff up its fur and wiggle its little butt to pounce at the sight of a simple ballpoint pen. I could scoop it up with one hand; it was so feather-light, I was afraid I'd crush it if I wasn't careful. But time isn't just a sharp knife; for me, it was like a super-potent bag of 'pig feed'! Sometime along the way, this 'miniature cheetah' started to grow wildly in width, its base getting heavier and heavier, completely evolving into a thickened liquid cat. Now, its greatest daily exercise is rolling over on a soft cushion. Today, I deliberately placed that pen in front of it, trying to awaken its wild instincts. But instead of reacting, it didn't even lift an eyelid, showing its round, white belly, its eyes clearly saying, "Can catching that fill my food bowl? Don't disturb my nap." Looking at this furry 'mountain of flesh' before me, and recalling the bouncy little thing it used to be, I can't help but sigh. I used to hold Sammy with both hands; now, I have to take a deep breath, brace myself, and be careful not to strain my old back. Sammy, completely unfazed, lets out a big yawn and pats its round belly with its paws, as if proudly declaring, "This isn't fat, it's called growing up and having a stable base!" I raised it myself, so even if my back gives out, I have to hold it with love. 💖
