Classic Battle: Battle of Xiaoyaojin (215 AD) • Zhang Liao's 800 Rout 100,000: In 215 AD, Sun Quan took advantage of Cao Cao's campaign in Hanzhong to personally lead a 100,000-strong army to attack Hefei, which was defended by only about 7,000 men including Zhang Liao, Yue Jin, and Li Dian. • Ambushed and Crushed: Zhang Liao selected 800 elite warriors for a surprise raid on Sun Quan's camp, throwing the Wu army into chaos and nearly capturing Sun Quan himself. This battle left Sun Quan with significant psychological trauma. • Online Meme: This led to the popular online saying 'Sun Shiwan (Sun Hundred Thousand), Zhang Bapai (Zhang Eight Hundred), Man Shushi (Man Ten Thousand), Wen Shuimian (Wen Sleeping)' to jokingly refer to the legendary feats of various defenders who repelled or defeated Sun Quan with minimal troops.
