Why Does Tire Pressure Drop When the Weather Gets Cold?

Have you ever noticed your tire pressure warning light suddenly come on when the weather gets cold, even though there are no leaks? This is actually related to the 'Gas Pressure-Temperature Relationship' in physics. When the ambient temperature drops, the air molecules inside the tire move slower. With little change in the tire's volume, the tire pressure naturally decreases. Generally, for every 10°C drop in temperature, tire pressure can decrease by 1-2 PSI. The actual amount depends on the initial tire pressure and temperature. However, when you drive, the tires heat up due to friction and repeated deformation, causing the tire pressure to rise again naturally. Therefore, it's best to check your tire pressure when the vehicle has been parked for several hours and the tires are still cold. Also, the maximum tire pressure indicated on the sidewall is not the recommended daily value. For the correct inflation standard, you should refer to the original tire pressure label found on the door frame. 💡 Today's Fun Fact: Tire pressure changes with temperature. Regularly checking your cold tire pressure ensures driving safety, tire longevity, and fuel efficiency!

In simple terms, it's thermal expansion and contraction lol Expansion 👉 Rising air pressure Contraction 👉 Falling air pressure

Gotta check it before every drive.
