Recommended in Sanchong, this 8 NTD "Jimei Steamed Buns & Xiaolongbao" is a super budget-friendly gem. They only sell two items: xiaolongbao and steamed buns, each for just 8 NTD. In today's world of rising prices, this is a great deal. The steamed buns and xiaolongbao are also a bit bigger than when I used to get them for 6 NTD. I've compared three places in Sanchong, and this is the best one. No wonder there's always a long queue, no matter the time. Lots of students, housewives, and regulars come to buy. After all, they were 6 NTD each and now they're 8 NTD, but you can eat your fill with just 4 buns. They open at 6:30 AM and close at 7:30 PM, so it's great for a snack or breakfast anytime. The steamed buns only have cabbage filling. They're just a bit smaller than typical steamed buns, but you can still finish one in three or four bites. The skin is pan-fried to be very crispy. Inside, there's a refreshing cabbage filling. In the steamer are the xiaolongbao, also 8 NTD each. These are xiaolongbao without soup but with meat. They're plump, white, and cute. The skin is slightly thicker, the dough is soft and chewy, and the seasoning is good. For 8 NTD, they are incredibly cost-effective. Delicious and cheap, a truly worthwhile local snack.
