I found these at the supermarket the other day and couldn't help but grab both kinds 🤤 These are the Choco Pie Premium Kasama Chestnut and Annou Sweet Potato. I was determined to eat them as a snack, or maybe a late-night snack or breakfast (?), and after agonizing over which one to try first... I ended up eating them at a weird hour 🤣 First, the Annou Sweet Potato... it had a strong liquor aroma. Looking closely, the back clearly stated, "※ Contains liquor." The sticky sweet potato sauce paired really well with the Choco Pie cake. This sweet potato sauce is based on smooth red bean paste with sweet potato paste mixed in~ It's quite sweet and would go well with green tea 🍵 Even so, I took a sip of coffee and glanced at the Kasama Chestnut package. This one also mentioned liquor. I thought the chestnut sauce, being chestnut paste-based, might be simpler ingredient-wise than the sweet potato? And then, it was time to eat. It has a white chocolate coating, so I expected it to be very sweet, but it wasn't. It might have even been sweeter with the Annou Sweet Potato. The sweetness level was just right and easy to eat. This one also had a strong liquor aroma. I could faintly smell the chestnut. It pairs wonderfully with coffee, which makes me personally very happy. Choco Pies are generally delicious, aren't they? 😋 Maybe I'll buy the regular Choco Pie again next time~!

Salmon was half price, so I made fresh spring rolls with cut vegetables and baby cheese. Buying them from the deli section is expensive, so making them yourself is a good idea! It was helpful that I didn't need any other seasoning, just by dipping them generously in sweet chili sauce. This was a few months ago, but... I stayed in Nagasaki for about a week and ate so many delicious things... As expected, the fish in Nagasaki was the best, but the horse sashimi also had great meat quality, a wonderful lean cut with no gamey taste, and was delicious. I was recommended to try the fried horse mackerel and was surprised by how thick the fillet was – it was delicious. The grilled vegetables were also delicious and superb. And finding some great Japanese sake here was the best harvest of the trip 🍶 I heard that onigiri was the way to finish, so I changed restaurants and went to an onigiri place? The combination of onigiri and miso soup was unbeatable. The onigiri was packed with filling, and the way the rice was packed and seasoned was just perfect, making for a satisfying finish. The pickled daikon radish was also a nice touch. I ate Champon the next day for lunch, which was a Nagasaki commemoration. I didn't get to try Sara Udon, but it was a fantastic week filled with other delicious encounters, including burgers 🤤 Well, it was a business trip, though. lol

Wooo! I'm joining the Playio Gourmet Club! Nameko mushrooms and komatsuna were on sale, so I stir-fried them with corn noodles in mentsuyu butter, and it was delicious! I usually use an enoki and eringi mushroom pasta recipe, but nameko works great too! https://cookpad.com/jp/recipes/24389308 I bought the corn noodles out of curiosity when they started stocking them at the supermarket, and I felt reassured by the gluten-free, vegan, and halal certifications. They're thinner than pasta and I thought they'd go even better with a Japanese-style flavor!

I was drawn to the mango desserts and went to Royal Host! ✨ I was torn between the Mango Brûlée Parfait and the Mango Douhua "Anmitsu Style," but today I went with the Anmitsu based on my mood 😋 The "Gracias Mango" with the peel on top was delicious! Below the douhua, there were also cut mangoes, agar-agar, and an Oolong Tea-style jelly that had a nice tea flavor and gentle sweetness 🍀 Please excuse the photo taken after I'd already started eating 😅 I want to try the Brûlée Parfait next time! ✨ They say it's until mid-September, so I wonder if next weekend will still be okay? If you're interested, definitely go next week! 😉

The background's realism is insane

At a yakitori place recommended by my senior colleague. This is my senior's go-to spot, and it's truly delicious. I didn't take pictures of the skewers, so I'll skip that part (I ate liver, back liver, chochin, and heart 😋 Needless to say, the chicken sashimi was excellent, with a great texture, and delicious whether eaten with soy sauce or ponzu sauce. For the seared assorted platter, the cabbage served alongside was actually the best part. The pairing of the fragrantly grilled meats with the slowly caramelized cabbage was superb! I enjoyed it with yuzu pepper. The stuffed bell pepper is more like meat *on* pepper, but the cooking was exquisite. The pepper retained its crispness without becoming mushy, while the filling was infused with the aroma of the grill and finished up fluffy – a truly unique dish. As for the grilled onigiri ochazuke, I don't know if the picture conveys it, but it's HUGE. It's a large triangular rice ball, about the size of three bowls of mixed rice with bonito flakes and sesame seeds, grilled to a golden brown on the surface. They serve the dashi broth in a pot, made from chicken stock, so I drank it as soup at the end. For the chicken nanban, they used chicken breast. I was happy to see the fresh vegetables served here! The overall acidity wasn't strong, and the tartar sauce was mild. Black pepper added a nice accent.

I was nervous trying kishimen for the first time. The noodles were so slippery and hard to grab, I was flustered the whole time 💦 It was super delicious with the refreshing yuzu and the light dashi broth 😋 I found Tomizawa Shoten, which I used to frequent back in vocational school, so I stopped by and was surprised to see they were selling bread and smoothies too! 😳 I had the blueberry banana smoothie 🫐🍌 (The one next to it is Chai Milk Tea) There was a Royal Host nearby too, so I want to go again 🤤 ⚠️ I reply to comments sporadically
