Aluminum foil is made of metal aluminum, which leads some people to worry about aluminum leaching and contaminating food when used. According to data from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), aluminum foil can withstand high temperatures of 400-600 degrees Celsius. Whether boiling, using an oven, or grilling over charcoal, there's generally no need to excessively worry about metal leaching risks. However, when many people use aluminum foil to grill meat or fish and season them beforehand with vinegar, lemon juice, or ketchup, caution is advised. When acidic substances come into contact with aluminum foil, they can corrode the foil and release small amounts of aluminum. The FDA recommends that consumers add seasonings after the food is cooked and the aluminum foil is removed. If the aluminum foil is scratched, it should be replaced with a new one. According to integrated information from nutritionists Yang Yingzhi and Zhou Yishan (Muzi Nutritionist), individuals with normal kidney function can metabolize aluminum through urine. Drinking plenty of water can aid in this process, so there's no need for excessive worry. It is recommended to drink at least 2000-2500ml of water daily to promote bodily metabolism and reduce the harm of aluminum ions to the body.

Aluminum foil is a go-to kitchen essential for many when grilling, using the oven, or for insulation and dust protection. But what's the right way to use it? Should the shiny side or the dull side face out? And how can you prevent fish from sticking? Let's dive into the best ways to use aluminum foil. Due to the manufacturing process, aluminum foil is made by passing two layers of foil through a final rolling mill. When separated, the side that comes into contact with the polished rollers becomes the shiny side. This often leads to confusion: which side should face outwards when using it? For grilling, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) states that the cooking process relies "mainly on 'conduction' for heat transfer, not 'radiation'." Therefore, it makes little difference which side of the foil faces outwards. For non-grilling applications, many experts and chefs have traditionally recommended facing the "shiny side towards the food or baking pan." This is because the shiny side is thought to reflect heat, helping to cook and bake food more evenly. But does it really make that much of a difference? Dr. Chung Chi-yuen, an associate professor in the Department of Physics and Materials Science at City University of Hong Kong, explained in media interviews that the reflectivity of the shiny side is 88% and the dull side is 80%. While having the shiny side facing inwards can indeed speed up cooking, the effect is limited and the difference is negligible in everyday use. The food science website "culinarylore" also notes that "the shiny side is only slightly shinier than the dull side. While a small amount of energy will be reflected by the shiny side, it will not have a practical impact on cooking." So, stop stressing about it; using either side of aluminum foil for cooking won't cause any significant issues.

On September 26, 1960, John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Richard Milhous Nixon participated in the first-ever televised presidential debate between candidates in the United States, held at the CBS studio in Chicago. Approximately 70 million TV viewers (about two-thirds of the US adult population at the time) tuned in. Kennedy appeared relaxed and even cheerful on camera, while Nixon seemed slightly fatigued. Nixon's structured yet conservative delivery indirectly helped Kennedy win by a narrow margin. This event also marked the beginning of television's role as a significant political propaganda tool, changing the future of campaigning.
