Yilan National Center for Traditional Arts
I believe many friends have been here! Still, I'd like to share. The park has folk performances and exhibitions irregularly. We went in early August and happened to catch the performance 'The Lion Without Ears', which was quite good and educational! We also saw an exhibition of the famous Taiwanese opera star Yang Li-hua! My daughter suddenly wanted to DIY clay figures, and I thought she'd pick Kuromi, but she actually made Kitty! A precious memory and experience!

National Archives
As we went through it, it felt like watching the TV series 'Detention'. It mainly introduced what kind of archives are collected, how old archives are processed, classified, and stored. It also introduced the process from martial law to its lifting.

Yilan Wax Art Museum
There are a total of 4 DIY activities. Your admission ticket can be used as credit for purchases. It's air-conditioned, and there's also a 68-meter-long, spiral, rainbow-colored slide (requires separate ticket purchase). It's as tall as an 8-story building, and you must be at least 6 years old and weigh under 100kg to ride! DIY experiences include: 1. Hand-painted mini pinwheel 2. Colored pencil making (if you're bringing kids, an adult needs to assist. Dye stains on clothes are permanent, so be careful!) 3. Crayon making 4. Body painting

Ruihe Ranch
The ranch isn't big, you can only watch the dairy cows eat grass! My little one kept nodding along with the cows. There was also a shy ostrich that ran away when we approached, so we couldn't get a picture. The milk tastes the same as Ruihe milk sold in major stores. You can also buy and enjoy steamed buns and ice cream. Personally, I don't think it's worth a special trip! It's a nice place to take a short break!

Yilan Anyong Xinshi Hall
Admission tickets can be used to offset consumption, and the 2nd floor is super fun! After taking free photos, you can transform into a mermaid or diver and be projected onto the wall in an underwater world, experience thrilling white-water rafting, rock climbing, fishing (put fish into the machine to get information about them), large-scale human ring toss, a wrap-around ocean projection wall (interactive game to train reflexes, recommended to divide into two teams for competition), sports mat games (step on them quickly when the lights turn on, with various modes), perfect for parent-child fun! There are also various DIY experiences and indoor laser tag battles (additional fee required); on the 1st floor, you can see the production line and buy souvenirs, and the 3rd floor is a restaurant.

Yilan Zhonghua River Kayaking
First, call the boss to book a time. Upon arrival, you'll receive instructions on how to wear the gear, get on/off the boat, and use the paddle. If you go during summer vacation, be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water and your phone (you can use your own phone to take photos before getting on the boat after gearing up). Afterwards, you'll need to carry the paddle and walk a bit to the boarding area. Paddle to the end and then turn back. The boss will help take photos along the way. It's recommended to wear sandals, otherwise, your shoes will definitely get wet. It's truly an arm-strengthening experience! It's also a very special memory! The best time to visit is recommended to be from June to early July each year, when the golden rice ears are most beautiful!

Xiangshan Wetland (Fiddler Crab Avenue)
There's a parking lot nearby. Remember to check the tide times and fiddler crab season before you go. It's a great place for kids to observe intertidal zone ecology. We saw many fiddler crabs and mudskippers. Don't forget to take some 'Instagrammable' photos after your visit.

Thirteen Line Museum
This is a place where you can play in the sand like a pro! Besides the museum exhibits, there's an archaeological park next door where you can play in the sand. The best part is that it has sunshades, and you can learn and have interactive experiences indoors while viewing the exhibits. We went after eating. It was perfect timing: the kids were asleep while the adults viewed the exhibits. Once the kids woke up, they went to line up for the experiences. When it wasn't too hot outside, we took the kids to the archaeological park to build sandcastles and run around. At 5 PM, we went to Linkou to eat and then took the highway home. This special exhibition happened to be related to the ocean this time!

Yilan Lanyang Kingdom of Animals and Plants
The venue is larger and more cost-effective than that X Grandma's place. Come early to park by the roadside. Most animal interactions are indoors with air conditioning. You can take photos with meerkats, red-tailed hawks, and teacup pigs. For feeding, there are parrots, toucans, meerkats, turtles, archerfish, capybaras, sheep, pelicans, and anteaters. I didn't see kangaroos on-site, but I've seen people feed them online. Parrots will land on your head because of your sweat (the guide said parrots like salty sweat). The pelican's special move, an emergency stop, isn't a jump shot. They seem to have recently added skunk interactions. It's a great place for animal interactions in Yilan. We finally left after playing for 5 hours! Highly recommend it to everyone!!!

National Museum of Natural Science
The National Museum of Natural Science has tons of interactive game exhibits, you could spend a whole day there with kids! It's so huge, if you really want to explore it properly, it takes a lot of time. Plus, I had plans to eat with family, otherwise I could have stayed until closing, my feet were about to give out!
