Just a few weeks ago it was all 'Ugh, so hot!' This week, I hear less 'Ugh, so hot!' Feels a tiny bit cooler (just a tiny bit) But this year is an El Niño year, so it should be hotter (maybe a warm winter?) When will we get a useful typhoon (a day off, but no wind or rain)

The tropical disturbance near Guam will likely become Typhoon Dujuan soon. It's expected to move towards Japan due to high pressure, but it might wobble a bit. In simpler terms: Low chance of a day off. Theoretically, anyway.

It's an El Niño year, so theoretically typhoons form further east and are stronger by the time they reach Taiwan. However, the probability of landfall might be lower. Bad news: They're super strong by the time they get close to Taiwan. Good news: They all fizzle out when they get a bit closer. Bonus news: No typhoons have made landfall in Taiwan yet this year.
