Let me introduce a slightly more formal work. A novel by Ryotaro Shiba. The protagonist is the beautiful woman [Chiyo], who married Yamauchi Iiemon Kazutoyo during the Sengoku period. Kazutoyo, who was manipulated by Chiyo, who displayed her "inner support" skills, found himself climbing the ranks without even realizing it. Serving under Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, he eventually rose to become the lord of Kochi Castle, granted 200,000 koku in Tosa. His skill in weaving various legends into what seems like fact is remarkable! Each episode vividly comes to mind, and I remember being shocked as a woman by the sheer intensity of her embodying the ideal wife and wise mother. I believe the lingering impression after reading this work might differ between male and female readers. If Chiyo were born in the modern era, she would surely have been the lord of her own domain.

I've been recommending a lot of horror manga, so for a change of pace, I'd like to introduce a refreshing and intense sports manga. 【Medalist】 This is a sports manga by Tsurumai Kada, about Tesokaka Inori, who aims for Olympic gold in figure skating, and her new coach, Akeuraji Sashi. Protagonist Tesokaka Inori is an elementary school student who can't do anything and is isolated at school. However, there was something she couldn't give up: figure skating, which her beloved older sister used to do. She wants to do figure skating, but she can't bring herself to tell her parents. That's when she meets Akeuraji Sashi. Mr. Sashi was also a skilled figure skater, but he was a skater who couldn't break through due to lack of money, timing, opportunity, and connections. He failed every ice show casting application. That's when he meets Tesokaka Inori. The two, who had been pushed out of the world of figure skating, meet and finally dive into the world of figure skating, albeit late. It has also been adapted into an anime, with Kenshi Yonezu performing the theme song. The music video for the theme song "BOW AND ARROW" even features gold medalist Yuzuru Hanyu. "Medalist" has a very strong love for the work, so please look up the episodes.

I found this great board and will be using it from today. I'm a student who likes horror and literary works. m(__)m

Seeing the previous post about people reading manga, I thought I'd bring up a super classic one. It's been adapted into a movie and anime, so I'll skip the plot summary. If you ask me about my favorite manga, this one ranks pretty high.

I'm joining starting today! I'm a student preparing for exams, so I read to take a break ✨️ I like mystery and suspense genres ♡ I also read a lot of manga 📚 If you have any recommendations, please let me know! 🙂↕️⋆꙳

The title is long and nonsensical, the book itself is unusually small, and you can't predict the content at all. But everything has meaning, and the thrill of it gradually fitting together like a puzzle as you read is truly the work of a genius! It's a short 95 pages, but it's a solid mystery, and if you breeze through it, you might miss the clues the author has planted...? It's a work that's a triumph of ideas, and I recommend it.

As promised yesterday, here's the second installment. 【Noroware (The Cursed)】 It's a story that feels like a traditional village, full of rural unpleasantness. Apparently, the protagonist is rotated among the three siblings. It features village-wide bullying, unique religious views, possession, and curses. It's a gloomy horror, and I was amazed by the audacity to publish this as a light novel. It concluded with 3 volumes in Dengeki Bunko, and a total of 6 volumes for the ghost mansion series starring Yuto Maki (upper, middle, lower). Since the editor doesn't seem to have given up yet, perhaps... I'll be waiting patiently. Personally, I like Shinohobu-chan and Mr. Mikado, so I want a sequel. Was it canceled because the story seemed to lack salvation at its core... I understand. While 'missing' and 'Grimm of the Fragments' felt like light novels, 'Noroware' does not. Keywords: Traditional village, Miko (shrine maiden), Psychic powers, Curses, Human collection, Local deity, Curse, Possession, Exclusive rural relationships, Bullying, Folklore 【Reikan Shoujo wa Hako no Naka (The Psychic Girl is in the Box)】 A story about a psychic beautiful girl, a box, and summoning spirits. Actually, the first volume was so devoid of hope that I couldn't read the second and third volumes. Why... This one also concluded with 3 volumes. Keywords: Box, Spirit summoning, School, Bullying

『Wasurenai to... by Mizuho Hirayama (Shinchosha Bunko)』 『MOTHER by (Shogakukan Bunko)』 Both are stories of loss, and a certain kind of beginning and rebirth. 『Wasurenai to...』 is the first book that made me cry, and I'm someone who doesn't usually cry over novels. It's like a mix of SF and FT, but I found myself crying, feeling the beauty and sadness of loss. 『MOTHER』 is like an SF mystery novel, but it's packed with content. These are my book recommendations for autumn.

Hajime Kanzaka's Slayers series This was the book that introduced me to light novels back in middle school. Yeah, middle school! That means chuunibyou!!! "Darker than the darkest dark, deeper than the deepest deep, I beg of you, spirit of flame, to weave your power into this place, and grant me my heart's desire. Now, let the ritual begin! WITH THIS SWORD, I AM THE KNIGHT OF SWORDS! LET THE THUNDER OF POWER DESCEND! RELEASE! DRAG SLAVE!" As you know, this is the incantation for Dragon Slave. It was perfect for a change of pace when I was tired of studying for my high school entrance exams.

The Calico Cat Holmes series by Jiro Akagawa. I remember getting hooked on it when a friend recommended it to me in elementary school. The protagonist is a calico cat (female) who is taken in by a detective after her owner is murdered. She inspires the somewhat unreliable detective, and together they solve various cases. It's easy for children to read and very straightforward as a mystery, so I recommend it to beginners of mystery novels. ※Image borrowed from KADOKAWA
